Time for an overdue update I think! I've made a little more progress on the Mega Boss but I've put him on the back burner. I've tweaked my painting plans to due to changed circumstances.

I retired from work last Friday so I am now adjusting to my new life as a full time hobbyist. The biggest challenge is pacing myself as I'm used to packing in painting time as & when I can. I need to manage my time to get max productivity while avoiding painting burnout!
I've decided to work on a short term project that will help to ease me in to a good routine. This has also been sparked by my decision to attend The Enemies of the Imperium mini Demon. I need to go up to Nottingham to pick up my minis so I thought I might as well kill two birds with one stone. Then I thought if I'm going to the event I should at least try and paint something for the comp. But I really want to avoid putting myself under the same sort of pressure I had when I painted the Haemonculus. I made myself Ill painting that mini!
The new project is something I've been thinking about for a while. I was planning to do it for the next Classic Demon so I've just brought it forward. If it isnt ready for Nov 6 I can still bring it along to the classic event. It also gives me the chance to experiment with using black, a colour I've tended to aviod, which will be good practice for the Wardroth Beetle (when I finally get to it).
I'm keeping this one under wraps for the time being but by way of a teaser here is the colour palette I'm using.

Ah life wins in the work life balance! I day dream as I walk back from work about the perfect painting existence and have planned it perfectly I believe this is my ideal painting as a career itinerary.
Wake up about 8 bit of breccy and of to the pool and sauna for an hour (got to keep fit it's hard work all that painting)
back home one via the shops and post office (gotta post all those comision works)
couple of hours painting followed by lunch
four more hours painting followed by dinner and then a relaxing evening watching art videos of the great masters and studying minutely the works of franzetta over a couple of pints
Go to bed dreaming of minis

anyway better get back too work

Congratulations on your retirement, Sproket! I'm looking forward to witnessing what you can accomplish under your new, nearly ideal circumstances. I hope your first week of a "full time hobbyist" lifestyle promises years of fulfillment to come!

You deserve it. And ill have so much elation in my heart now that your doing mini painting so much more. They shoud just give you 10 slater swords cause now its on.

I'm delighted for you on your retirement and at a young age. And yet you are the envy of us, painting with no pressure and freedom to explore many new facets to your considerable knowledge. Good luck Mr Sproket sir
Take time Dave, create yourself a schedule, say paint for 3 days during the week, use the other two to do other stuff, read, watch crappy movies etc....
Always leave your weekends free for social life.

Yeah! I have all these unpainted board games and box sets that need painting if you are hard up for cash or really bored... :laugh:

Based on my experiences with resin I would say thay primer is probably a good idea. It varies between diferent brands but paint is less likeley to adhere to unprimed resin and far more prone to rub off.
Excellent advice Mike! One of the more unexpected results of my retirement is that I've got my weekends back. I used to feel obliged to pack in as much painting as I could at the weekend but now I can go out & about.

This very same thoughts passed through my mind.....
NO PRESSURE AT ALL!!! Fell the freedom! Mostly all the time I can't paint because of the pressure of other things blocks my mind. Sooo jealous! xD

Time for another teaser (a bit of a giveaway really) on my current project. Things are going very well although I'm finding that the days go by incredibly quickly now I'm doing something I love all day!
