I know who to turn to if I ever run out of cutlery! I know I said it earlier in the wip but I really like the black undercoat approach it looks more moody and aggressive IMHO.

Thanks Guys!

I'm glad I tried the black base colour as you say it looks more moody and aggressive. I think it gives me a whole new range of colour & atmosphere to play with.

Speaking of using black the Meggaboss is back and I've introduced some black into his colour palette.

I painted the same Megaboss, but to a much different quality level! The battle damages are amazing, and it seems that you use lots of stippling technique right? It gives this amazing grainy look!

Catching up on your thread has made coming back after almost a year completely worth it.
I'm definitely inspired again!

In my opinion one of the best orcs I've ever seen! [gulp] ...one of the best paintjobs, period? I mean, this is crazy. Retirement for Sproket seems like it'll be pretty fun for us, as well.
This figure stands in need of absolutely no improvement, but as a spotted person (sort of covered in freckles), I still think you've not quite made the orc moles look 'natural'. They remain one of my favorite parts of the painting, so no worries either way.

Masterpiece theatre .., retirement has given you one thing... More models produced yearly with the most amazing results ever to grace a screen, a page, a human eye... Etc etc. goooo sprocket!!!!

I was talking about this mini to a friend of mine today, and that skull is just amazing. The variations in texture are mind blowing. I love that there is a distinct difference between the bone and the teeth.

Thanks so much guys! I'm sorry so many of you are feeling poorly

It's always a nice little touch to pick out the teeth on a skull in a different colour or tone. The enamel will age diferently to the bone. I've seen some very aged and brown skulls with white looking teeth!

Incredible as always. There's usually one bit of these miniatures that stand out to me and with this one that's the bit of the skull just in front of the eye socket. Really awesome.

Out of curiosity, how long do you spend working out where the light/shading/brown tones are going to go on each surface of the armour? Or do you just know naturally?

I hadn't even noticed that yet. Holy crap it's good.
I wonder if the teeth of the orc should also shine a bit more to match those on the skull (which are definitely the best teeth I've ever seen... and my dad was a dentist!).
