What kind of material was used to make the stone work on the following minis? what gives the surface of the stonework that one way wirebrushed look? Were the main stone separation lines carved before the surface texture scrape? ???

i have recently uploaded a pic which was borderline 200KB and the pic is now a bit blurry compared to the original file. does it get badly recompressed, thus messing with the image quality? i am thinking of deleting the submission and reposting.
