lossy compression on uploaded pics???

i have recently uploaded a pic which was borderline 200KB and the pic is now a bit blurry compared to the original file.

does it get badly recompressed, thus messing with the image quality? i am thinking of deleting the submission and reposting.

not to worry, i\'ve deleted and reposted.

its just that my friend always uploads 200kb files and has had no problems.

You can get a pretty good pic in 200k, but was the original 600 pixels wide? If it got auto-scaled from a wider resolution by CMON then there might have been some data aliasing, which would result in a loss of visual information. Use your image processing program to resample down to 600p for best results.

it was 600pix wide,
the problem was - under file properties it was:
size: 200KB (205,216 Bytes)
size: 204KB (208,896 Bytes)
which i thought was ok.

the new file looks like this:
size: 196KB (201,029 Bytes)
size: 200KB (204,800 Bytes)
which should be ok now.

I think the compressions sets in if it is above 200kb, and it\'s not a very good compression. just save it to just under and you\'ll be fine. There will be no visible loss in quality what so ever.

I get that the other way round when I compress the pic. If I compress to 100k in PSP it will show as about 95k in windows.???

I didnt know the filesize limit went up either. 200k is a lot more respectable than 100k.
