1/48th Tiger1

Hi all,

Bigger pics of my recently submitted Tiger1 if anyones interested in seeing a bit of historical for a change

Its a late Tiger1 from Skybow and was a great kit to assemble, bags of detail and a joy to paint. As with most of my commission stuff its actually for Wargaming use rather than a dedicated disply model .......

cheers

Nice piece of work. Questions!

-Are the tracks molded as one piece?
-Do you apply the brown chipped paint marks with a sponge?

Tracks look like singles to me.

I like the paint work laods, does the kit come with pre moudled zimmerit?

My only comment would be that some weathering powders on the tracks could make them look a little more realistic, because the rest of the tank is quite weathered execpt the tracks. kinda like this:

Wonderful. Did you do the ziemat (sp?) yourself? The head on shot makes the barell look like it\'s bent to (from the gunners persective) to the left.

Yup one piece tracks, pretty good ones though for all that. Chipping is all brushed under the keep it simple principle !!!

Hi Alex,

Yeah the tracks do have pigment on em, about as much as I wanted for this guy though. Its loosly depicted as summer of \'43 and also in lots of video the contact patch of tracks on the move is actually pretty bright. I\'m thinking they must self-clean fairly well unless in heavy mud. And the pigment is a little more washed-out in the pics than IRL .... but u get that!

It\'s freaking fantastic, I wouldn\'t change a thing.

I love seeing well painted armor. This is stellar.

It was WW 2 stuff that first piqued my interest in all things mini....

Thanks for showing us!

This is the piece I\'d voted on the other day Brent, top stuff. Seen plenty of larger-scale armour painted not nearly this well!

Zimmerit (prounounced with a TS at the beginning, in case you want to say it in your head correctly :))

Thnx matey ! It pretty much painted itself tho ...... just like minis its sooooo much easier when the subject is quality.

And guys, the Zimm is moulded on. I forgot to answer that one! Skybow do another Tiger kit without zim should you want to do an earlier version as Zimmerit was factory applied from August \'43 until around Aug-Sep \'44
