WOW thanks all, some lovely messages. Yes it was a great day, really liked the venue but still carnt get my head round GW scrapping pin badges this year. I emailed them, all they will say was they have had a lot of similar 'messages' and will forward them on to the event managers.

Anyway yes it would be great to meet up with the US crew but as for me going to crystal brush alas family commitments and lack of wonga will stop that.

I must just mention that when I saw Stefan's face when they put my gandalf on the winners shelf.....well it must only compare with the face of a father seeing his child winning at school, really made my year!

Cheers Stef :hug-right:

Shame Andy-the-main-man couldnt be there but I suppose Gold medal winners would have their own VIP room and would mix with the bronze scum ;) lol lol

I would make an exception in your case mate though there would be a lot of "oh look at mine its goooooooold what've you got uhhhh bronze.... pleb!" Then running away as fast as I can.......... those big GD trophies hurt when your clubbed across the back of the head with them!! ;) I've decided actually that I want one now the whole venue/setup seems much better than last year so im going to enter it next year for sure. Plus I cant let you have all the thunder now can I? Got to try and spoil it for you! I mean what else are good friends for other than to try and piss you off as much as possible? Of course none of this is because I'm jealous that you got a demon before I did no sireeee not at all...... not even a bit ......................b*stard

What a week, big surprise from the wife letting me move into the broom closet for my painting :brushwave:
(I know most of you have fancy painting rooms but this beats painting on the kitchen table every night, having to get all the paints out etc)
Soooooooo ten balls really happy !!

And started on a new mini, the first of many in my new 'studio'.

Yeeah I still remember the kitchen table although I now have a room. It is such a nice feeling to have your own place to sit down and work, much easier to get started when you have just a short period to do some work. Nice looking and well organised area also :) not like mine... kind of a messy area.

That strange figure in the left corner you could always post it too me if you feel that it is taking up too much space :)

Congrats on the full time workspace, Nice ornament in the corner you may need to get a shelf in the future to line up the rest of your pretty trinkets

w00h00! It makes me grin from ear to ear to hear that menly men can be so happy to get their shed of their own, even if it is a glorified closet. And happy you should be. Every man needs his space! Be it an attic, a basement, a cave, a treehouse, a broom closet. A man needs at least one space where he can proclaim, without fear of womanly retribution, and as they so eloquently saidin the League Of Gentlemen; "What's all this ruckus? We'll have no cleaning here?! This is a manly space, for manly people"

And Skel, shed no tears, you're not alone in this plight. As long as I don't buy a bigger house, I'm stuck with this:

Mind you, this is a picture from 2008, the start of my painting resurrection. the desk chair and TV got an upgrade and the amount of painting material has exploded to it can even no longer fit into one of those foldable, plastic grocery boxes.
Hence the introduction of a mini-painting kit with just a few brushes and the paints I immediately need for the next stage of a model, so I can setup and cleanup in a few minutes. luckily the girlfriend is supportive of the hobby, but I'm not going to try and test the scorned fury with a coffee table like that left overnight, as when she's abroad for work, the room runs the risk of quicly devolving into a wildernis with some walkable hunting trails.

And here's my photo setup, also something quickly setup and taken down. I prefer to have the apartment not filled with clutter so I've gotten pretty adept at making that chaos disappear in no time.

The lighting tent is this : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/640799395/lightcase?ref=discovery
The lights are two 4000K LED light bulbs, and I adjust the height of the light case with whatever I can find.

Oh yes, middle of the cupboard, with his slightly smaller Forgeworld brother next to him. :D It causes many a bent back and squinted eyes with visitors. :D

evening, ten :) Just passing through, like. Well done on the daemon (I see he's settled in nicely in the corner there.) Also, congrats on the painting cupboard. I'm starting to wonder if painting success isnt inversely proportional to the size of your painting space. Skel has no space at all, and daemons up the wazoo, you have a cupboard and a bronze, and I have...well. I have a nice painting room :(

Cupboard?!!!? I'd be so bloody lucky I'm stuck in the toilet!! Sigh oh well. Any way Lee I don't like to see you struggle so I think as with any hard thing repetition and practice makes it easier so just repeat twenty times every morning and night "Andy got GOLD!" just like this "Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!","Andy got GOLD!" and once more "Andy got GOLD!" There you go it should become easier to say with time. I hope this helped you mate I mean it certainly made me feel better ;)
