RMA - yep hopefully see you at GDUK this year.

Cheers Quiarcus :)

Persifal - I will be asking you tips on painting red marines, yours looking real smoooth.

BloodFather - I always love comments, esp tips and suggestions. Many people over the years have helped me improve. Right from the start Tommy telling me to keep the brush strokes in one direction, Skel's help with water effects, Andy sending me a wet pallet, Sprokets help with snow effects, wargamesculpter helped me out big time with some sculpting last year and countless others!! And most resent Persifal's great reference pict.

Sometimes you have blinkers on about your own work and just need a poke from a fresh set of eyes to get the best out of your painting.

Finished his face, starting on the sword, bit of a pain blending because of the gold symbols on the blade. :silly!:

It's taken me a while to realise why this figure's not "gelling" with me and it's nothing to do with the paintjob, it's the sculpt.
(I'm working from Home for a couple of days so I've been able to see it on my laptop instead of the iPad)
What's throwing me off is the lack of inset on the sleeve of the raised arm, as its a solid mass.
The same is evident on the collar disc and the armour panel on the leg.
I think you'll need to do some clever shadow trickery to hide the solidity.

Wizardry.....Witch? Burn the witch! If he weighs as much as a duck, he must be a witch!

Great stuff again Ten!

I paint my thumb.
Great NMM gold, and DR just gave good pointers too. I'm not sure about the cheekbone, its the only thing that bugs me, not sure the shadow need to be that deep at that place, or that abrupt, or maybe its the shape of the hl but it looks too pointy.

Looking good 10Ball. Just one comment: his jaw looks a little off where it recedes into the hair. As others have mentioned it's a sculpt issue, but from this angle we should be able to see the jaw starting to curve up into the socket just as it reaches the hair, whereas the sculpt seems to suggest that it stretches back even further - making it look like his face is stretched out Alien style. Maybe some shadow trickery would help mollify this, or maybe I'm just off in my assessment. Either way, the model is really looking good.

I feel like the others here are on to something, so I tried some quick photoshopping, making some adjustments to his cheek and the disc on his collar, I'm sure you'd be able to do a much better job though but making it visual helps a bit maybe :)

I loved doing that kind of stuff for my kids. Just be happy you didn't have to paint it too :)

The elves look great!

The smile and happiness is well worth 2 hours I bet. Top stuff on the next two. Pulling off the same effect across a squad will be impressive indeed.
