I believe it is the pain to have one of the feets in a vice(is it called that??) ... seems to be hurting a little :), with dignity thou...

He looks sick because the horns on his helmet are crooked ;) lol.

These are looking good 10Ball. Here's to kicking that bugs ass :beerwave:

Just stopping by to see what Ten is working on and I am continually impressed. I feel like that barbarian is going to hop off of the screen and cut me. I think it is your highlights that amaze me. Anytime you find the time for a step by step, on literally ANYTHING, please include. I learn a lot from your style. Ty.

thanks all :)

No painting done over the last week, my mojo has gone due to the kick in the teeth I got at Salute.
Went on a day out Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. Stunning town that has got this little gem of mystical offerings - Mother Shiptons Cave.

'is a petrifying well which has been a tourist attraction since 1630 due to its association with the legendary soothsayer and prophetess Mother Shipton (c. 1488 - 1561), born Ursula Southeil, wife of Toby Shipton.'

For centuries people have been hanging up items (hats, teddies, shoes etc) and over 3-6 months the minerals in the water turn them into stone (yes really!)

You can see the teddies hanging up in the photo, the two stick out sections on the rock face are two Victorian parasols from over 100 years ago.

In the museum they have on display a shoe form Queen Mary, a handbag for Agatha Christie, a hat from John Wayne plus loads of other strange items. Im was told that in the 1600s they used to hang up dead animals !?1
Its also listed as the worlds oldest tourist attraction.

that is some interesting rock formations ten ! Still don't get how the jungle fighters didn't place, now dust yourself off, pick yourself up as I'm sure I speak for a lot of people on here when I say I think your work is top notch( and not just because I have one of your painted pieces sat in my cabinet). Keep pushing forward mate

Pick yourself up and crack on mate. Don't forget there's euro and Golden Demon (probably) to enter it in. So that gives you plenty of time to get the minis and get a +1 to the score by dipping them ;).

Also on the tack of beautiful natural sites one of my favourite places to go would be the Blue John mines at Castleton bloody amazing place and some seriously nice food at the local pubs!

Oldest tourist attraction eh? I'm sure DR can verify that for us  Competitions are nice, so are scores, but remember to paint for yourself before anything else :curl-lip:

Actually, DR uses the famed "Five-Point-Palm-Exploding-Genitals-Technique." He strikes you in a series of pressure points, and afterwards you can take ten steps before your genitals just plain explode in your pants. Painful and embarrassing.

Oh please. He can "explode my nuts" if he can convince The Lady Inquisitor to let me have them back for a weekend  ~sigh~ That didn't sound right at all

Sorry you're both wrong, I prefer the "Grip and Rip" technique.
And having been a bit of a rock climber I can GRIP.

Lee I suggested to Andy that you should look at GUILD OF HARMONY figures, I reckon they'll put some "Steam back in your Stride".

Isn't this how Rackham used to cast their minis?

Thanks all :)
I will break out the paints on the weekend I reckon.

Dragonsreach - yep, GUILD OF HARMONY are definitely on my shopping list.

Just a note on vallejo Ivory - this is MUST colour to get, Dragonsreach told me and Andy to get some at Salute. Super colour much much better than bleach bone or whites to highlight a colour with - the colours dont go chalky or jump to a harsh highlight.

It is for precisely this reason that I start from page one and read EVERYTHING on the WIPs of great painters like you, Ten Ball. Found this little nugget of info just now. I have the chalky white issue, and you may have just solved it for me with this Oldie.

Gotta go. More to obsess over.

My spirit has been lifted after some nice messages & pms from you very nice people :)
Started on my Warrior Priest that I had sculpted by Jean-Marc Brisset. First time I have used VMC brown sand for skin, as suggest by Mike and have to say for skin I wont be using anything else again, good call Mike!

Been focusing on the eyes and around the eyes, want his face to tell as story of hardship and war. Ive gave him a glazed / tearful look.

Great! Now I have to go buy some VMC Brown Sand.

Do you use that as your base coat? Or as an undercoat or primary shade? Just seems darker than what is showing up on this dude.
