Cheers all :)

Ive had a lot of questions about the tree, I might do an article :)

Boubi - Its a plant root from the garden, if you get just the right size / type it look just like a tree. Wash the earth off, paint in desired colour (sometimes the colour is correct as is), then spray with permanent spray adhesive (like the stuff for sticking carpets down) then sprinkle with desired flock.

To get the right look you will need to experiment with a few types of flock, the type you get in little bags for model railways are good, its best to just try some out.

Pretty impressive, looking at the root, it really looks like a tree with many branches, you didn't add anything?
Also, you have different colors, did you use different color flock or did you paint over?

With this particular tree it is two roots added together, with two different flocks on the green, with the dead side being left bare with a few 'leafs' (silver birch seeds) added.
Ive dusted brown / green pigments on the green side and blues on the dark side.

Ingenious for the pigments didn't think about it! Thank you I will try this out! but I might do the tree out of resin compound.

Great looking minis and bases! I really like the trees, especially two last ones. What did you use for the leaves?
And the little diorama on the previous page is superb! Awesome idea! :)

not knowing exactly what leaves mr 10 used here, just want to add no fancy expensive hobby stuff is needed (tend to be a real f*ckng $$$ rip off). there are plenty of plants and flowers that have very suitable leaves or stuff that can be used as leaves. just take a walk in the garden and look closly :)

Yes but on the "living" side if the tree he doesn't use the birch seed stuff. See previous page, he described it to me as a sort of railroad flock. Ten, could you be so gracious as to provide a link to an example of the flock used on the living part of the tree? Pretty please with a cherry on top!

Thanks Ten. Just what I, and I think many others, needed. Another thing that I have seen to be helpful for trees is to apply sawdust around the trunk for a bark-like texture.

Pictish Mini Painting

I'm actually a man!
Great stuff Ten. Looking at using a root as a desert tree but not sure where to get them, short of going round to my folks house and digging up their bushes :).

Looking forward to seeing your stuff at GD, Cant remember what you look like so you know....name badges ;)
