Thank's mate, I take that as a high compliment. I feel that a model should have character to inspire the painter and should make them wan't to paint it

Congrats on making finalist at Salute!

I am excited to see how you put that airbrush to work. They are super fun when they are working right. :) I think my biggest breakthrough with my airbrush was realizing just how incredibly gunked up it was. After a year of use and basic cleanings it got harder and harder to make it work right. I assumed it was my beginners luck wearing off, but then I took a little bit of acetone and some q-tips to the thing. I must have pulled about an ounce worth of acrylic boogers out of it and it has been smooth sailing ever since.

I like the new mini! is the new highlighting sort of more euro? Did you get a peak at one of the Figone books by any chance?

Thanks Digganob. Demi - Yes Andy, Skel & I were at the Figone stand checking out the great paint jobs. :)

Well Im liking this mini, the character is 10/10 sadly the casting is 1/10 so its been hard going. Ive gone back to his chest and removed some of the stupid 'veins' that look like worms and done a repaint. Also heated his toes with a hairdryer and bent them round so there hanging over the base :)
Still WIP (as you can see) but its starting to take shape.

airbrushing is cheating.

.
Controversial much?

But I understand your meaning, (I think).

Airbrushing is just a tool in any painters repertoire, it can be well used or over used.
Since I've been around a long time I'm able to step back and consider that it is just another phase in model painting development, I've seen the move away from Humbrol Enamel, to Oils, to Acrylics via NMM versus Metallics through "Zenital" priming and onto high contrast and Warm/Cold complementary colours.

For me Airbrushing will remain an available tool but not the 'Be all and end all'.
Well let's face it, licking an airbrush isn't as much fun now is it?

Anyone who thinks its cheating hasn't used one! - its bloody hard work and has many limitations, it will never take over a brush.

Finished my classic smurf - http://www.coolminiornot.com/378991
A fav of mine painted in a strange 80s, off the usual colour scheme.

Bit more on the giant also, slow but things carnt be rushed, this way leads to the dark side (of a squad of useless NMM gold elves).

Can't say i´m a fan of your choice of minis as of late;) But the painting is not poor at all! Great improvement in free hands swell on the elf!
