I love the stippling effect on that snail. Really gives it depth and realism, without distracting from the slight cartoonish element of the sculpt. Great stuff as usual!

Snail is much more discusti... er I mean nice ^^' Seriously speaking it looks much better now, that green was a bit too much now that I compare them both.

I definitely think you made the right call on the snail. He is looking fantastic with his new, slightly more "realistic" skin.

Arwen is coming along very nicely I really like the dramatic purple/pink shading!

The snail looks great! Now he is painted in a desaturated & naturalistic colour I think he could take a few coats of gloss on the body without becoming OTT.

cheers all :)

more wip on the snail, focusing on the face. Thought long and hard about adding a gloss shine to the body as im not a fan of a gloss finish on a mini.
In the end ive decided (after a few reference photos) that a snail must have a shine but i havent gone to crazy. Decided to leave the shell alone from the gloss.
Had a slight panic at first but the shine dulled down after drying so im happy. Redone a few of the light spots to break up the gloss also.

The gloss is just exactly right!
But I'm really not sure about the blue tongue. I think it looks out of place against the other colours. Maybe a desaturated pink would fit in with the hints of red and pink on the eyes and nostrils.

I agree with Sproket. The tongue is too off from the realistic color scheme of the snail and it doesn't really pop from the mini, pink might do the job.

Superb job for the rest, it could be an almost perfect reproduction of a snail for a middle school class exercise!

Ok Jason nice to see you back mate, make sure you stick with your wip .

*clears throat*
Right, the tongue. Right from the start of the project I had a clear vision of what I wanted for the shell but the body kept bothering me. The green was well off but strangely I liked the blue tongue against the green. Now ive changed the skin to a more realistic colour I agree the blue tongue no longer works. Will have a mess & rethink :)

Because there is pink around the eyes and nostrils our brains are telling us there should ay least be pink in the tongue...it would also tie in with the pinks in the shell. Now it might work to change the blue to pink and then glaze some blues to the end of the tongue the way the color is sometimes worked into ork lips and noses. Do it up like he has been licking blue pop sickles.

How is that for some unsolicitated advice! Lol :)
