The mushroom looks great, it's like you picked an actual mushroom and put it right on the base. I'm going to have to second ST's question about the rocks, they always look so natural.

Thanks all :)
Saint & fluister - First thing had to look up :
'Striations' - means a series of ridges, furrows or linear marks :) lol

I've had a few people ask this and the secret is ......... Drum roll ....... Well it's ....... 'Rocks'!
Yep, real rock lightly pushed on the milliput to get the texture :)

Jan Davidsz, nice start and welcome to the WIPs. I would suggest you push the contrast on the lemon slices. The reflection on the urn is really looking good. Will you be basing this in a post-apocalyptic wasteland or more of a lava-hell environment?

This is quickly becoming my favorite of your pieces, and I'm a big fan of your work. I see where one could object to the intensity of the red on the nose... but I love it. The leaves on the base are outstanding (I'm really going to try to internalize some things there, and might pester you for information, too), but the leaf skirt is even cooler. Mushroom >>> nose wart >>> eyelids... it's great. The sculpt is super fantastic (in both senses), and you've just gone all out on a fantastic (in both senses) paintjob.
I'm not sure whether this makes me want the model more or less.

I can seethe nose the big mushroom and little mushroom together make the triangle of spot coloring so in the case of the whole scene the red nose I feel is perfect ..if the figure was on its own..I might be inclined to say a bit too red...ice leave it as is though it works super well with the mushroom configuration..great job 10 .

Thanks all for the great comments :)

Ive purposely went strong on the red nose to mirror the mushrooms. Yep there are two triangles of blues and reds going on also, its good to get some colour symmetry in the scene.
I recommend painting the mini and base at the same time so they both 'grow' together.

Meaty - its a tiny blue mushroom (what you dont have tiny blue mushrooms in New Zealand?? lol :))

*google reveals that new Zealand has a native mushroom species exactly the same colour*
