Hi all,

I sculpted a 10mm scale green as a one of. It\'s a sea fairy i named Iris.

Please vote (please keep the scale :) in mind) and/or comment

Here she is:

Iris the 10mm scale sea fairy

And here is the comment that goes with the pictures:

I got the idea when I heared someone saying sea ferry one day. I got another image in my mind then the actual boat.. and the idea stuck and finally she\'s being made after a year of swimming around in my head as a mere concept.

She\'s really tiny. On my screen the small inlay is actual size. I placed a gw high elf next to it for size comparison too) I wanted to sculpt real facial features so eyes and all.. not just holes or painted on eyes.

I painted the green, added sculpted gs aquatic plants and took 2 real shells (painted them for I didn\'t like the origional colour).

Damn hard to photograph something this tiny. I hope you guys/girls like her.

Trevor, I had the same response when I saw it, very nicely done Cindy, I love the sculpt, dynamic and elegant.

I don\'t think I will do another like this, she\'s to tricky to cast (and expensive) and she\'s rather time consuming for something tis tiny (unfortunatly a 3th the size doesn\'t mean a 3th the time). I might do a variation on a familiarset, definatly not sure.

Great job Cindy. Looking forward to seeing the next sculpt (I hope to have my three done in two weeks or so).
Do you know this design: http://www.newwave.org/minis/contest/minidesign/imagelg/andreamangoni5.jpg ? It has some interesting design details in it like the hair and side fins/arms.
It\'s from the new wave design competition. I\'d love to make it someday (er, anybody know Andrea Mangoni by any chance?). For those who missed that competition: http://www.newwave.org/minis/contest/minidesign/index.html

By the way, I checked out the details on the Eureka 100 and 300 clubs. They are counting 150 28mm and 600 15mm casts as break even points. So from that I\'d say you\'d have to sell 4 times as many 15mm figures to get your costs covered. Something that could be an idea, sprue two or three 15mm figures together and sell as a set. That way you could use a single 28mm cavity for a few 15mm ones.
Though we\'d need to check that with casters.

didn\'t notice you are from the netherlands at first :)

you should join minimaker for the Crisis miniature convention here in Antwerp, so I can see some of your amazing stuff in real life

or maybe Miniaturansichten in Germany next month? (I believe minimaker is also visiting that event)

Yep Ming-Hua (minimaker) is my convention buddy :) The more conventions the better (and if we could prevent getting lost and thus taking long detours driving there that would be nice too ;) Right Ming-Hua? :D ) Unfortunatly I can\'t make it to miniatureansichten this year :( Other things I have to do that day. Fun thing but I rather would have had both... I do hope to be able to make it to antwerp this year.. missed it last year (I was on holliday in Egypte then.. poor me ;) )

Hehe. We are getting lost less often nowadays though. Or at least not for more than half an hour or so (compared to, what was it again the first time, two hours?). :D
Anyway, I\'ll try to be there at Miniaturansichten but it\'s kind of a busy weekend so I may drop out at the last moment.
I won\'t be bringing new stuff since most of it will be at a caster (as will Cindy\'s) I\'m afraid. But you can see the whole lot in Antwerp later this year.

Bye, Ming-Hua

Since Holger asked me and Jasper to do painting demos, I\'ll be at Miniaturansichten all day :) so I hope to be seeing you there Ming-Hua.

Or else I\'ll see you again at Crisis, together with Cindy I hope. It\'s always great meeting new people :D

And if you like me to paint some of your sculpts, as a test or just for your catalog, please let me know!

-Gerrie.

What a great twist on faeries and mermaids.
I enjoy seeing all your sculpts. Not to mention the paint jobs are excellent too.
