well.. as i wont be here the 11th i figured i post now..... forever shall we remember those who have given their lives so that we shall be free. for ever shall we remember those who have suffered, not omly pysically, but also mentaly from conflict. may we never forget those who have surved so that we and others could be safe.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

My wife\'s Grandfather is an Auschwitz survivor. Meeting him really brought home to me what the generations before us have been through in the name of freedom. So to those who fought for us and to those who continue to do so - thank you, you will never be forgotten!

Amen. I\'m a Veteran and just happened to be born on 11/11. I was also born at 11:00 AM. So I get to celebrate Veteran\'s Day and my birthday at the same time. :)

I usually wear a poppy in memory of WWI and WWII soldiers who fought for us, but today I discovered that poppies have been hi-jacked by vets of the Gulf Wars (TM) and Afghan war on terror:mad:

This is the first year since the age of 8 (26 years ago) that I\'ve not worn a poppy. Flame on...:cussing:

You know, regardless of what i might think of politics, economy, the country and peopel in general i can say i have always been proud and thankful for those that are willing to stand up and risk their life to keep this and any other country free. The Vets have never been given the proper thanks they deserve but i do thank them that have come before, are here currently and will in the futur step up and seave. Thank you all.

What\'s wrong? You don\'t support those who died fighting other wars?

That sickens me.

Can\'t tell if you know this: 11th november is also Polish Independance Day.
Isn\'t Poland the country that used CAVALRY to charge German Panzer tanks? ???

Yes, YOU SHOULD thank God for you independence. ;)

lol

Anyhow, to address the comment directly above this one, there are wars we are proud of, and some we are not. We must remember on 11/11 that we honor those who have died for us, weather the reasons behind their war were right or wrong has NO bearing on their sacrifice.

For all soldiers/sailors/airmen who\'ve ever died fighting in ANY war, on ANY side (it all comes down to damn politicians :cussing: )

And, as regards my opening statement, one man\'s terrorist is another man\'s freedom fighter - only God can judge :p
(Though I\'m not condoning ANY sort of attacks on civilians etc)

Violence never solved anything :p
