1mm. hole punch

I\'ve checked Micro-Mark and other online specialty stores, including my local train and hobby stores, but can\'t find a hole punch smaller than 2mm. I\'m hoping to find a rotary hole punch that goes from 1mm to 4mm.

Anyone know where I might be able to find one? 2mm. is just too big for our wee bitty scale.

Not sure the actual size, but the tip of mechanical pencils (the ones where you click the one end and the lead comes out the other end) punch good small holes. I was also able to go to a farm supply store and get a hypodermic needle. Ground the end flush, poked the hole clear. (get parents permission!!!). Those punch REALLY small holes and not just in mini\'s.

can you not use a pin drill to drill a 1 mm hole? Does it have to be 1 mm?

What I\'m actually looking for are the 1mm plugs to use as rivets.

Pins like sewing pins - just cut off the actual pin part? What\'cha talkin\' about here? If it\'s easier than hole punching (I made a bag of 2mm rivets in about 30 min) then I\'m game.

The things I mentioned above will make plugs but they are so small they are almost impossible to manage. What I do is use these tools to emboss a tiny circle. It\'s flush, quick and easy.

I\'m pretty sure I have a 1mm hole punch that came in a Martha Stewart (tm) card making kit.

Try looking at craft shops and places that sell scrap-booking supplies.

I use sewing pins, you can get those pretty darn small. If I don\'t have to I don\'t cut the head off, just stick the pin in as it helps hold everything nicely (works great in foam, balsa, basswood, etc... Not so great in plastic and downright obsurd in metal).

what material are you punching......?
I use the hypodermic syringes when doing rivets in greenstuff.
If I\'m making plastic rivets to stick on an area I generally just use 1mm plastic rod and cut it as slices..
For metal I recently did a lad using a 1mm drill bit and 1mm ball bearings.. Not for the fainthearted.
Tamiya made the bearings and they do several other bits of kit for making rivets to hyper detail tank kits.

for rivets, i roll out sections of greenstuff to the correct thickness and then, when dry, cut little bits off the end. you can vary the cross section of them and its a great way to use up random g/s blobs
