You have to add some points of white to make it shine.
Ok, thanks, I just looked at the "Moon Hubcap" picture again, the "sun" is a highlight, is this what you mean? There is no other white on it - and it is defiantly chrome, I intend to blue up the sky (from the grey blue to a deeper blue) and make the "sun" into a white highlight, also some damage dents need defining.

The sun in the reference picture is almost completely white with no yellow in it. Your highest highlight needs to be pure white I think is what cheelfy meant.

also in terms of any NMM bus especially SENMM or Chrome, the best effect will come when your paint becomes smoother, try more layers with more watered down paints. thats the easiest way to get a smoother effect. without having to do a blending technique that you don't know.
wish you luck.

Actually I think for a first go this is pretty good. I agree that the sun needs to be white. The sun, that high in the sky, represents it's propertiy that it is a white hot body in space. Yes your blending should/will get smoother as you practice but a good first attempt!

Thanks for the comments...the problem is the base coat was porous, hence very difficult to blend (um Impossible!)...I worked that out on the plane back to Indonesia......so its back to the Dragon for now!
