2 days of madness ....... concept to finished painted mini

Ok thought I would post a new WIP here < breaking my own rule to keep one thread already lol >

The story so far...... ( long story short )

Got a phone call last night around 10pm GMT, a friend of mine asked how I was getting on with my custom Hero for a campain I had signed up for that starts thursday morning....
Oops only forgot all about it !

So I needed to think fast, I lied and told him it was nearly done lol. < too late to drop out anyway >

What makes it worse I had already told them the back story behind my hero, we had to when we signed up.

My hero is a Orge that didnt stop growing, looks more like a small giant than a Orge.
Anyway the campain is about how each hero goes from nobody to lead massvie armies bah bah bah, you get the idea.

So last night, after searching in my bits box I came up with this, yes its rushed, but no time to mess about!

need good soild feedback, as I will be starting to paint tonight, anything that really looks wrong or needs fixed?

anyway just finished a painting stint and thought I would give an update.

This is it so far, really could use some feedback on improving it, but remember only have 1 day to go........

what you think about the fur, should i go lighter, more of a white look to it ?

also the metals hw do i improve them, without spending ages on it :)

skin is only a base coat.

also bone, any good ways to paint that quickly.

one last think, any ideas for a good looking but quick and easy base ?

The only thing I gotta say is to highlight the skin a bit more, but all in all, looks great. For table top purpose, this model is more than enough. But is it me or the phote, the left arm looks a wee-bit small compared to the massive body.

I would suggest you just keep it basic until you finish it then go back and polish off the individual elements.
It looks bloody cool so far!

I think it looks bloody excellent, well done so far. The armour has come up a treat, and the fur. Great job, cant wait to see it finished:D

thanks for the replies.

yes the weapon does look bent, was trying to make it look \"Bow\" shaped and it failed, will have to think of a \"story\" why its bent lol

the skin is just the first base coat, going to work on that next, soon as I have a coffee and wake up, over slept and wasted my morning :cussing:


Any ideas for a base guys, was thinking a winter base, since he has loads of fur, not sure how to make that work......

I think a snow base would be perfect. let some snow stick to the fur boots a bit with some superglue to make it look frosty and maybe some on his back and maybe a little on his facial hair a little too. great model by the way.

Yes I thought winter snowy base, and you ever thought of doing the skin our skin colour with red chilly cheeks?

Another quick update :-

loads of \"life Stuff\" gotten in the way of my painting today :cussing:

But managed to get alittle done,

fixed the bent weapon and got te first 4 layers on the skin done.

couple of questions.

bone how should i do this ?

also the eyes what colour eyes do orges have ?

Bone I layer up from a dark shade of brown to a bone white leaving streaks of the dark showing where streaks should be...

Eyes for Ogres are whatever colour you decide they should be. :drunk:

lookin good - real wintery. id go for something that stands out...either normal white & brown (or whatever) with red (sore flesh)rings...or bright colorful eyes.

I didnt get it finished in time for thursday morning :(

needed the bone, eyes and base done, but it was enough to start the campain with lol

will finish the rest after a elder bone singer I have to paint for the newcastle GW store.

really nice mini and glad the guys at newcastle asked me to paint it :)
