Rhapsody is GREAT. I have the whole Emerald Sword saga and eventhough it is very strange at times (plotwise), it is a great opera/musical/whatever.

I also recommend \"The Puppet Master\" by King Diamond. It is downright evil and believe me, you will soon feel how to paint anything evil, especially undead and necromancy-related stuff. Just puts me absolutely into the \"horror-mood\".

Oh, and Ayreon is sublime, simple as that. Arjen Anthony Lucassen is the only one who ever got me near sobbing with his music - most of his stuff is simply \"emotion overload\".

Yes, ZZTop, Led Zeppelin, HIM, Joe Walsh, Peter Gabriel, Eminem(? no, really), Yes, Eric Clapton, Boston, Santana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Gorecki, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, ermm...etc... etc:flip:

And in addition to those, don\'t forget ACDC, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, The Tragically Hip, Van Morrison, Steppenwolf, Steve Miller band, Megadeth, Blackalicious, Pharcyde, Jurassic Five, and lots of other random rap/or rock.

I like to have most of these going when I\'m painting...Most of them aren\'t soothing, but they can galvanize me to new heights of painting. :)

Be careful with King Diamond though, he has an octave range that is not even funny anymore..... I like him, but many people feel his voice is \"too much at times...\" (end quote by my father ;))

\"Into the Electric Castle\" is a wonderful piece I happened upon by accident.

I tend to listen to either musicals or classical most of the time. If I go rock it tends to be classic (ZZ Top, Zepplin, Doors), blues (SRV, Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters), or rockabilly/Southern Rock (The Gone Jackals, Eddie Cochran, Loggins and Messina, Johnny Rivers). Other times I enjoy the nostalgia of my high school days and will throw in some 80\'s compilation disks.

once from nightwish has to be the best cd I bought over the last 6 months. Truly inspirational record, and great when painting :)

I do not advise listening to Stephen Lynch. If you even like his brand of musical comedy (which I personally find hilarious) you\'ll be laughing or singing along more than paying attention to what you\'re doing.

Then there\'s the factor of being polite to those who live around you who might not want to hear songs about gerbils in places where they shouldn\'t go. lol
