Here are my two newest completed paint jobs.

The space marine I just wanted to have fun with. I like bright colors on them rather than blacks and grays all of the time. This is my first Space Marine.

Enjoy!

I am not much of a fan of space marines regardless of who paints them so I will not discuss it.

I do, however, like your Varghar! One of my favorite Rackham minis (I want to paint mine soon). A 9 for me, yes I voted. The color choice for the skin is great and is very successful. I like that he looks albino (I assume he is albino since he is not on a snowy base).

The only critique I can give is that I think the axe could use a bit more shade. The blood looks great but with some shade I think that the rivets and trim would look real nice. Also, and this is more of a personal thing, I think the snout/muzzle should have been painted a darker color. Other than that great job!

Thanks guys for voting and commenting. Much appreciated.

I\'m not a fan of space marines either. This is the first one I\'ve painted myself. I just wanted to do something fun with it.

Glad Varggie is a hit.

!!!

Meg?!? We were all supposed to be doing our clever carebear theme with the GD marines.

I guess I\'ll have to find something other that pastel rainbows and daisies to paint on mine, now.

PS: Sharp work as always. There\'s some very soft shading on that wolfen. Me likey!

varghar is definitely a hit meg...
very nice for a first wolfen...
he definitely has room for improvement, mostly with the metals...deeper shadin\' would really help the axe, as aliengod3 said...he looks like a mean bastard, so that\'s good...

space marines are my favorite minis, so the less said about the colour choice here the better...my eyes are still bleedin\'...
as long as your little bro likes it is all that counts...

hope all is well in texas...

cheers

Both of these are really nice but my favourite of the two is Varghar the skintone is excellent. I really want to try and get one myself sometime though the chances now are pretty slim. I like the marine too the use of colour on that is superb both are technically excellent but I think the Wolfen is just a better sculpt.

I got to see both in person (well the space marine was not finished but at least I got the idea). Both are super smooth but Varghar is my favorite for sure.

hey meg, any reason for why the customer didn\'t want varghar on his base o\' skulls???
the original base makes this guy even more sinister, even though i shudder everytime i look at it, and think of the amount of time that will go into paintin\' all those skulls...

cheers

Andy we can all still paint a nice squad of marines for an open entry in GD :) PM me later and I\'ll give you more of what I was thinking for us to do. This one was just a for fun all the colors of the rainbow on one guy.

Thanks for feedback

Both the models are pretty nice, i prefer the second, the blue coloured muscles look really cool. And it goes well together.

Personally i dislike the marine but cant fault the painting techniques just not the colours i would use.

Great job on them anyway

i like them both, the space marine because he\'s different and you had fun with it which is always good. life would be boring if we all painted everything the same!

Thanks DK for the appreciation of the wacky and different.

I did have fun with the colors. You may see this color scheme again just not on space marines :)

ah, now i see...it\'s hard to see all the bones, as the base has so much grass added...probably a better way to go, as the finished result is not so dependent on painstakingly painted skulls...
on mine i just added a little greenstuff to the areas of the base that the skulls don\'t cover, and textured it to look like moss, so the bones are the focal point of the base...

what are ya workin\' on now????

cheers

as always excellent painting. Still appreciating the paintjob, I don\'t really like the overall on the marine.
As to the wolfen he does look mean and sinister - one thing I wandered about is the \"hair\" color. I think it would have been even better if there was a bit more difference between the hair and the skin - both very pale I mean. Don\'t know what to suggest though, as I think a brown might look funny too.

@Jah--the base with all the skulls looked funny to me. I mean considering how much Varggie would weigh in real life a mound of skulls and bones would never support him without being crushed. So I figured it would make more sense to have them under some dirt that has grass growing over top of it. Plus I figured it would be a somewhat disturbing picture . . . a seemingly nice field with green grass and flowers then this big ol wolfen guy with blood on his axe looking very mean.

I\'m working on a few things. Starting the beginning stages of some of my GD entries. Also painting another space marine captain for fun and the Kraken Aurlock Baby.

@Manus--thanks!
