2 questions

Hey!

I was thinking about trying my hand at converting some GW minis and I was wondering what the difference between green stuff, brown stuff and white stuff was.

Also I want to make kind of a rough themed empire army, what would you suggest in going about doing this?

Green stuff is great, buy it
Brown stuff is better for inorganic shapes - but I use Milliput for that
White stuff (I\'ve heard) is crap, just use greenstuff for now mate

The difference is in how hard they get when cured, and how long it takes to cure. I don\'t use any of them so I can\'t answer further.
I use Apoxiesculpt, Cernit, Wood-filler and Tamiya epoxy (which I think is the same as miliput).

they have varying degrees of hardness when cured. white stuff is supposed to be very flexible (never used it). gs is a little bit flexible. and bs is hard. and can be filed better than gs

Green Stuff (GS) is great, but it\'s got a learning curve. i\'ve heard people say it\'s like trying to sculpt with bubble gum, and it is. But once you\'re used to the medium you can do great things with it. Brown Stuff (BS) is a little harder to shape and it cures ridged enough to file, so it\'s better for hard, sharp edges like weapons. i\'ve found Kneadatite (GS) at my local Home Depot, but BS is still impossible to find locally. Might just have to bit the bullet and buy from the CMoN shop.

I started sculpting with milliput first. Its easier to use but you cant get as fine a detail in it. Later I started using GS. I mix the two when I have a large area that I want strong but it makes the milliput easier to use (Like a cloak etc)
As for your empire army: Base it on an Historical army like Neapolian (Sorry you frenchies if I spelt it wrong). Any army from the 1600\'s on would fit into the empire theme.

I assume you were trying to type Napoleon (adjective napoleonic).
Or maybe you meant from Naples? that would be Neapolitan.
Then again, a Neapolitan army would probably be 1/3 white, 1/3 brown, 1/3 pink.

It aslo needs to be based on sliced Tinned Pears and allowed to stand in a warm room to allow a slight amount of melting to achieve the perfect \'desert\' texture.

look in Auto Repair places..brown stuff was origionally sold as Gas tank and radiator repair material. Befor Polymeric started selling in in 4 inch strips in neat little plastic boxs, we used to buy it in bulk from auto supply places.

It was called Pro Seal Instant Gas Tank & Radiator repair. For some reason the Big Lots chain sells it for .99 cents a package here so I buy 30-40 packages at a time

I just got some of the Tamyia stuff, it behaves like GS when wet, but sets like milliput, not really had a chance to test it out properly, but I think it could be very nice to sculpt with.
