I know it won't exactly be a miniature but it is a (proposed) dragon sculpt...

...pretty weak methinks, I particularly dislike the way the wings join with the body. I can't find any closer shots to see how the face looks. Regardless, a fun project, certainly intrigues me more than the giant horse that's been proposed for the South. I confess, I've yet to visit the Angel Of The North yet but these big works certainly seem to garner lots of local support (after the funding arguments are past).

I wonder if the gift shop will have 28mm scale copies? And who will be producing them?

It looks alright, would be a stretch to say 'its a waste of money blah blah' when it will become an iconic symbol of Wales. Pretty much everything is a waste of tax money these days to some people.

Wasn't just the funding issue. The Angel of the North was cut and dried authorised and started before any of the local tax payers had a chance to object.
Much as I like art itself I have to point out that Gateshead Council is reknown for it's "support" of the Arts, instead of more traditional Council business.
As for the statue, garbage. looks like a small aircraft crashlended on it's tail. Been the cause of so many accidents because of its placing that warning notices have had to be erected on the main arterial route in to Gateshead/Newcastle

If it's marketed properly then the souveniers sales could be a significant boost towards cancer charities. However £6 Million...overpriced.

However on another viewpoint this is a way of "making" employment, just as some landowners did making "Follies" in the 18th Century to combat local unemployment.
