220mm Skeleton Warrior WIP

Hi everyone,

Thanks for checking out my WIP. I bought this 220mm Skeleton Warrior from a gift store. You know the ones that sell those gothic statues etc. Well i got this for £3 and wanted to try and paint it.

So far ive only painted bits and pieces and it looks quite messy but ive highlighted the robes and basically finished the flames on his base. But this is by no means finished at all.

This is my first time painting a large mini (if you can call it a miniature) and first time EVER painting flames. I hope you like it.

All critisism is welcome as i know most painters on here are amazing and any tips from them are always welcome with open arms

Seems you got the fire sorted out. It looks like maybe you didnt undercoat this mini. That would help. Also at this size you should never drybrush (The skull looks dry brushed as do some of the robe)

Anyway it should look great when finish and is a good size to practice stuff on.

Good luck.

Yeah i undercoated it Chaos Black. Yeah I did drybrush the skull and realised I made a mistake so i have to re-do that but not a problem, as for the robe, it was a little too big for me to handle, i barely drybrushed it at all, only in small places.

But as you say its gettin my practice in and ive never done a piece this big.

I was really happy with the way the fire came out. But i guess everytime you do it you get better in theory.

Haha too true my friend, and I can always buy another for more practice. I could\'nt work on him last night as i was at the pub discussing an up and coming battle!!

I\'ll be doing more over the weekend and post WIP pics as im doing it.

Ive realised the mistake of drybrushing on a large scale model so im gonna have to re-do the wrap around his arms and legs. What colour would you suggest to do them?

I was thinking classic mummy beige colour?
