I\'ve done this for an upcoming painting contest.
The Maneaters are self sculpted (apart the faces and some parts).

The OSL looks cool in that area, but it doesn\'t look right not having shadow too :p

Everything else looks great :)

Thanx for the comments so far, guys.

@Shawn: I was hoping you\'d reply to my post, and I am really happy you like the OSL and, most of all, you find it works.

@freakinacage: I know, it is very crowded there... but the contest\'s only rule was that I had to use THAT 12x8 cm wooden base, and I could have done anything I wanted with it.
I tried with 1 maneater, but the base looked too plain; 2 seemed like missing something; 3 were the maneaters I sculpted, so tried to fit all of 3 of them.

@DaN: thanx, but the gnoblar has a shadow, actually, right behing him. But if you feel something else is missing, or orther shadows in other parts, feel free to say so: the contest is Sunday evening, so I have time to fix anything.

Thanx again, and keep comments coming guys.

cheers

Apologies is this posts twice - I think there was an error:

Oh right, I see the shadow now.
But what I meant was...
Well - the rest of the figure and base look well lit - and you wouldn\'t use a lantern in daytime would you.

As Shawn would better explain, light casts two different levels of shadow:

Umbra - which I believe is the darkest area, where the light from the source is blocked (Your shadow)

Penumbra - Where the light is obscured, but still has a partial effect (This would be the areas around the shadow on your goblin)

Shawn would explain this better I\'m sure.

Regardless - I think the actual OSL itself looks great, the lantern in particular :D

You are perfectly right! :D In fact, the minis were painted to be in day light, and the lantern-gnobbo was a latter idea to impress the judges.
I know it is a low shot, but it is worth the try lol
