300: Rise of an Empire minis!!!

There aren't any, really. But why? Who wouldn't love to paint Artemisia, twin golden scimitars in hand with golden spinal spikes protruding from the back of her cuirass. Or Xerxes, with his almost metallic cloak which flows like a starry night while a museum of artifacts festoon his glowing flesh. The comic book nature of 300 lends itself so well to mini painting. How about a monochromatic dusky and barren landscape interrupted by an also gray skinned Spartan warrior whose red cape and the red blood on his blade is the only bit of color in the dio. Or how about a dio celebrating the scene of the boy Spartan vs. the lupine predator (wolf scene at the beginning of 1st movie). Or how about Immortal minis? Ugh, the potential is limitless yet nothing has been produced. This Kickstarter would have my money, that's a guarantee. How about you?

I think the closest at the moment is Odyssey by Joek. I particularly like his upcoming Atalanta.

You can find some greek/spartan gaming figures, though I'm blanking on who makes them. But they may be more historical based than from the movie 300. There are some larger scale pieces that fit closer with the movies style.

This bust from Young Miniatures is based directly from the movie

And there's this Scale75 Leonidas figure that is similar in style to the movies, though with some differences

You should also take a look at Ares Mythologic. They've got some Greek and Roman figures that walk the line between history and fantasy.

I really enjoyed the first movie, but the second one frustrated me. I'd describe the first one as exaggerated history. Most of what was in it, including a lot of the dialogue, came from historical anecdotes and legend. It didn't try to be realistic, but it paid respect to the actual events. The second movie did a complete rewrite of history and made a lot of shit up. And the worst part is the actual events are a really compelling story and they could have done a lot with it. Themistocles was incredibly cunning, at times manipulating both the Persians and his fellow Greeks. Visually it was still neat, but I was disappointed with the second story.
