4 hour / 4 colour painting competition

Already there are some SWEET minis coming in! Milosh what 4 colors did you use? He looks great! I like how the color of the clothing is absolutely appropriate for the time but you've got a monochromatic effect going on. Too cool!

I've got about an hour into mine but just realized I shot myself in the foot. For some reason I thought the 4 colors couldn't be mixed. I mean if you have 4 paint pots in front of you and mix 2 colors - that gives you color number 5. I think I'm concentrating too much on my other project so the brain isn't giving this one its full attention. ;)

So I've been doing a form of speed painting/layering and he's coming along just fine but doesn't stand a chance. No worries though, when he's done I'll still post him in the thread at least - we shall see if he goes up for voting.

Wouah!! Just came back to see how the thread was going... Really nice entries, 10 ball, your armour looks excellent, face also, smart choice red, yellow and white without having wasted a flesh color. The base is really cool too.
Milosh, the atmosphere of the paint job is really brilliant. The base is also really well done.

My little gnoblar looks dull now.... But still proud of having been able to do it! We need more entries, really impatient to see them all.

I'm disqualifing myself from this, I ended up taking 4 and 3/4 hours.
It's not as easy as it sounds working to a timescale and with limited colours, but it was still kinda fun.
I'll still get some photos taken but not for voting.

Well Im throwing in the towel, sorry folks :( I had chosen the starfire dragon from my recently arrived SDE which is just smaller than a SM dreadnought. I figured "Its bigger than i should probably go, but not too big and put simply, its smooth and needs to be red" lol. What i lose in size, i can gain back in the lack of little details to contend with. Well I completely underestimated the mini, was cracking on nicely and lost myself in the painting. I looked up at 45 mins to go, looked and the model and decided I was going nicely, most of it done, now just to clean up some of the blends and tie up a few of the details...

And then I remembered the two wings atop the dragon that id been using to hold it, which as of yet had not recieved anything more than a thin basecoat I applied at the start of the project... Back down to earth I come. Haha!

Anyway heres as far as I got:

Shoddy pic but not that it matters lol

Nevermind though its been fun, and Ive enjoyed myself which is all that matters. Think Ill go watch the football and try to finish it off tomorrow and get it posted in the submissions thread, but not here :)

Rambling over hehe

Mom and I currently picking out our minis and colors to do this.
I figure it's a great way to get me to start painting. Yes, I'm blowing off a night of doing my thesis, but dang it! I wanna paint! :D

bit ambitious for 4 hours :)

Yeah I underestimated it lol. I figured it would be just right because it was all smooth red and that would balance out against the size, but to get the shadows i wanted i started with a black primer and then it was the number of coats needed to build up the red over it that got me. Still lesson learned, Im well up for it if theres a next time, Ill just choose something more sensible haha :D

Hi there DR, good to be hanging out again a bit we have missed the place.
IPM and I should be painting the final hours worth of time after work and then pop up some pics just for fun.

This is such a great idea thanks for letting us tag along

Ditto to all of this. and add a "UNCLE MIKE! :D"

we'll be done this evening, Eastern Standard Time, and will post up pictures. It's been so long since I've added something to vote on...I'm a little nervous (lol)!

You Shall Not Pass!!

Right this is late so disqualify me if you like (loads of mither over the weekend) but just rushed this out quick picy to show its semi submitted by the monday (gonna take a proper pic at work tommorow) Phew realy like the base but try as I might couldnt do a realistic fire colour with the 4 colours looks a bit pink rather than red.

Base is just hacked up cork with a broken bit of Hirst models field stone broken up realy like it for such a quick effort.

Gandalf the grey obviously for the monochrome paint job.

Great mini choice for a limited Colour range mate.
Looks good, look forward to Picts tomorrow.
Just made it in time :)
Hope family feeling better

If you had swapped the dark flesh for yellow you could have done
the flames and still made the flesh with the White and red.
