40k 5th Edition.

I\'ve just been reading this blog and it is another apparent confirmation of the 5th ed. coming out, this summer, with another supplement, Planetstrike, out later in the year, accompanied by a plastic drop pod, plastic stormtroopers (kasrkin style) and a plastic Valykyrie. Also there are rmours of a plastic Thunderhawk for that release, too.

Interesting, I can certainly believe that larger models will be produced in plastic as we have seen with the Baneblade, not sure I would by a Thunderhawk but a plastic Valkyrie would be cool especially since the Forgworld one is a pig to build.

Agreed on that, I can see myself getting one or two of those. Do you suppose they will do the variant pods?

Well, according to that site it will be useable as a chaos drop pod, so I assume there\'ll be options.

Most of the rumors seem to be hinting at a 2009 release. 2008 should be a big year for fantasy as 2007 was a big 40K year (with apocalypse).

The one rumor I didn\'t put much faith in but that caught my ear was that 5th will feature the return of the Squats and that they will be one of the \'box\' armies.

Maybe grenades will exist again- other then in their current retarded and nonsensical form. I loved 4th ed-but the grenades felt wrong every time they were used when we played.

Not just me-but my oponents, GW store staff.... the grenade rules sucked

Aren\'t tbe Squats renamed the Demiurg, or something similar.

EDIT: Just read the latest list of changes. Only troops choices will count as scoring units. That would change my possible White Scars list.

*Sigh* I talked to the guy who fed me that information and he seemed to have no reccolection of ever saying it... Whether that means he made up the whole thing or was instructed to have gaps in his memory regarding it is debatable. Still he\'s usually a fairly reliable source so time will tell.

Well, looking at all the rumour mills such as warseer, they also mention the box set with orks in it.

I think that whenever they do release the new edition, they should also release a basic starter rule set online, (like rackham are doing), this would help bring more of the modeller/painters into the game, because i for one wouldnt fancy paying £30 plus for a rule book and not even like the game. Atleast that way it would give people the chance to try before they buy.

When they do release it it will have more miniatures in it and less scenery than BoM does. The reason being is that if you compare it to the warhammer box set BoM has about 26 usable models compared to Skull Pass\'s 100 or so.

Hopefully the crashed aquilla will still be available as a seperate thing as it\'s too good a bit of kit to waste.

A buddy of mine used to work for GW here in the US until November of \'07, and he says that they do not want to release any info about the Legions or the missing Primarchs. Ever.

The same goes for the UK GW as well. We shall see what toll time takes on their resolve
