New from Gorgon Studios. In the Blanchian tradition, I wanna introduce Temperance, a 40mm outlander.

I\'d be grateful to hear what people think. Thanks for looking,
Dave

Sadly the pictures are too small to see any great detail. You\'d be better compiling the montage vertically and increasing the size.

Having said that Blanche\'s style is one I don\'t really like.

I used to love looking at the Blanch minis... the ones he painted... they were awful, messy grubby but something in them spoke to me.

another call for bigger pics :D

the contrast needs tweeking to help make it pop, little extra on the shading for the red and the highlights on the hair and arm.

i always loved blanches style, dark and moody.

Well I\'m glad to see that we all have differing tastes.

Personally I\'ve looked at John Blanches stuff and thought the mini\'s he\'s painted were just unfinished and scruffy.
I suppose it\'s all down to personal taste but I look at his drawings and find them sketchy and sometimes inferring detail that he\'s left half drawn and that irritates me. Its also probably why I\'m never really satisfied with my own drawings.......

I have to say I like Blanche\'s work .. It\'s very freeform and often looks like sketches one does while on the phone but there\'s somthing about that I like .... same with his models and painting there it has a sketch like style again which pleases me...

I will reserve judgement on thismini until I see clearer pics but I think there is potential for something cool there.

I love the look of this fig, and have always liked the Blanche look. It\'s proof to me that you can capture feel, mood, and atmosphere without providing what would be a technical masterpiece.

I think the painting on this fig is a little better then some of the old school Blanche stuff. I look forward to seeing more!

Oh yeah! There\'s better pic\'s in the trading post section I think! I would link them up... but... y\'know... the whole lazy/apathy thing.

Thanks- I was on my laptop and couldn\'t get a good take on how big the pictures looked. Hope this is better:

Totally agree. And whether you love or hate his stuff, it\'s iconic (as Lady Sov would say- \"love me or hate me it\'s still an obsession\"). He really did lay the foundation for what 40K imagery would become.

Steve Saleh, formerly of Wargames Foundry, definitely pays homage to that Blanche look with this model. It\'s creepy/sexy/disturbing fun.

I tried to keep the palette simple and keep the colors almost \"washed out.\" I think the subject matter is \"over-the-top\" enough without adding a garish paint job (though maybe that\'s what John Blanche would do). I tried to keep the tones relatively subtle because the model is anything but.

I think it came out decent for a few hours work. Like I said in the post, I\'ll bring it with to Games Day Chicago if anyone wants to see it in person.

Thanks again,
Dave
