Well, it\'s been a while since I\'ve posted here on CMON, good to be back.

Here are a couple of images and some slideshows illustrating the creation of a 50 mm square base in which I attempt to recreate the steampunk atmosphere of the Rackham Hybrid boardgame floor tiles. The base is destined to be used for the Rackham Aberration Prime figure.

Materials used: 50 mm GW square base, 1.5 mm plasticard, GW and generic bitz, plastic rod, Dragon Forge Design white metal power cables, milliput and sand.

Total construction time approx 6 hours.

Comments welcome!

I\'ve just finished the base and have only just begun to paint, comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks all! :)

I\'m sorry, all, I\'m really having trouble getting those slideshows to work (photobucket).

I\'ll try posting those links directly:

Let\'s see if that works.

Edit: Much better!

its a amazing base work mate:)
Only thing that needs more attention are the huge mouldlines on tubes at surface.

I\'ve started painting the inside of the well. Since The base is for a Dirz figure, I decided to color the stonework as light sandstone. GW Desert Yellow seemed right applied in a thin coat that just seemed to cover the white priming:

...followed by a sparingly applied and feathered wash of GW Bestial Brown:

I might have to do a little highlighting on the flagstones with som white and certainly on the walls of the well.

Next step is a thin coat of GW Mithril Sivler mixed with a liitle Vallejo Game Copper metallic on the pipes, which I overpainted with thin feathered coats of GW Bestial Brown followed by ditto coats of GW Fiery Orange.

I\'d like to have the pipes look as though they\'re aged copper, would anyone have a way to created the look as though they were covered with verdigis?

edit: Looking at the picture, seems more brown and orange is in order on the pipes.

Looking great, ive gotten alot of great ideas from this thread, cant wait to see it finished.
In regards to the copper, you could try some selective washes/glazes of hawk turquoise (sp?), ive tried it afew times for rusted copper and it works quite well.

Hope this helps

Great work!! As for the verdigris, im not sure how you would go about it. One way may be to just mix up thin glazes of different greens and blue/greens and apply them. I also know Vallejo sells a verdigris glaze, but I have never used it. Have alook at some reference material to see how it goes!
