ok i cut of one leg for easyer sculpting

oh, wow, I\'m liking this... how did you set up the armature to be able to sculpt the face? Having trouble with my sculpey firm \"loosening\" up on the armature/stick/wire when I sculpt into it. Looking forward to watching this one!

You\'d probably want to try bulking out your armature/wire. Basically just sculpt a simple \"skull\" sort of shape a bit smaller than the finished head you want. Do this on your wire/stick, bake it to harden it, then you can sculpt the final face a whole lot easier afterwards. You can use an epoxy putty too, just make sure it\'s something that can withstand the heat you\'ll use to bake the polymer clay later.

This is what is commonly done for just about everything, so I\'d assume that is what was done. Since sculpey doesn\'t stick to stuff that well.

I recently got some epoxy glue called JB Weld from the auto section of the hardware store. It can withstand high temperatures (I guess due to being used for vehicles and such) so I\'ve been thinking about trying to use that as a fixative for the Sculpey to wire. I know the sculpey could just tear away even if a layer was glued down but I don\'t think it would. Hopefully it wouldn\'t set off the polymer clay curing. Pretty sure super glue can\'t withstand the heat or I\'d just try that. But I digress...

yap like QuietiManes say. but for this one i fist sculpt out the join thinggy apply vacilin then stick the armature wire in after that i put polyester putty to the armature wire went iharden i going a scoket there and a hard base to sculpt. that all for easy assemble after it get cast as i am going to cut off the wire to get it cast. polyester is muddy and harden faster then milliput that why i use it

Thomgirl you may wan to band your armature wire a bit befor you bake it so that sculpey will not lose up that easy

I don\'t think that I like the size of the axe head. Your second picture make her look like she\'s using the axe like a cane. I guess that I\'m thinking that the axe shouldn\'t be touching the ground plane. Shows that she has the muscle to swing/use that thing, and didn\'t just get lucky. Other then that very nicely done!
