But this is the maybe the fourth submission from the same source in just the last couple of weeks with a score I find, well, a tad high to put it mildly. Was wondering how the registered/unregistered votes broke down for a start.

What prompted me to post finally was this lovely piece of work by Yellow One, submitted on the same day, is rated lower (!) and has more views but less votes. Plus this happened to pop up for voting this morning.

Well, personally I don\'t think much of comparing painted minis with sculpts. It\'s a totally different set of skills really.

I think the sculpture of the girl is superb and would buy the mini in a pinch. The paintjob on the other one I great too. And there is just a 0.1 difference anyway.

I think what drags the other sculpt down are the pics, they are rather dark and a bit unfocused.

But at some point it\'s just about taste. If the technique and execution are on that level, where someone rather unskilled like me can only look on in awe, you can only make distinctions between them on the subject, I guess.

I like it. Maybe a little high, but I don\'t see anything fishy about it, just diofferent tastes.

Personally I like the girl mini, and I really dont like the Odin mini, I also think the inside of the cloak ruins the paint job, it\'s too busy, and not to the same standard as the rest.

And on a side note, this is coolmini or not, not cool paintjob or not, which has been pointed out to me in the past. So IMO the scores are the right way round, as the girl is a cooler mini than the Odin mini.

Not really a can, as discussed in the past all voting choice is selective.
Personally I\'m not that struck on the \"Odin\" and think it\'s not up to Yellow One\'s normal standard.

the oden knight is not a sculpt its a casted white metle mini. i do agree with you when i first saw it i wasnt to impressed. im still not. where as the oden knight is soooo awesome!
cheaters or not cheaters at this point i dont care. some people here who are popular get 9.1 minis who desever an 8.1 mini but i know that in my head and i think of them as an 8.1 arsitst not a 9.1 get me?
however they got that score...

I think it is a great sculpt but personally I think it is about an 8.8 - 9.0

The registered votes are about right I think.

Agreed. Like a lot of us (most?) I score greens for what they are - so although an unpainted sculpt can\'t technically \'match\' a well-painted mini of similar quality I do score them that way. Or to put it another way I don\'t score them as though they were missing paint.

Thanks DR. Now that score I find easier to believe: good but not awesome good. Which 9.7/9.6 is.

Incidentally I agree. But still an impressive sculpt IMO and very nicely paint... so better than a good, but not exceptional, sculpt.

Interesting to ponder how many unregistered 10s there had to be, to balance out to 9.6

Obviously taste does come into this, what I\'m wondering about is whether that\'s all that\'s happening here... if you look back a bit in their submissions the scores are so consistent, regardless of the subject, or quality of the sculpting, with apologies to the sculptor. Doesn\'t look right to me at least:

Re the Discworld stuff, the subject matter alone accounts for 1 point It\'s no wonder they score so high - they\'re decent sculpts of a fantasy arrangement close to many hearts.

It doesn\'t ring my bell! But my opinion counts for just one vote.

I think that there is a bit of mystique about sculpting that causes a higher score than would be apparent. Especially a well executed one, well done but as said before I don\'t like it.

It\'s now 9.4.

The Discworld sculpts are spot on. They are exactly the same as the artwork which counts for a lot and then they are well sculpted. Plus like people say, its Discworld Bound to score high!

The girl is well scuplted to just not to everyones taste. I dont like her but I cant deny the skill envolved in the sculpting.

Boobs will always up a score on this site,its natural with so many pubescent teenagers around. Also a lot of folks dont take anatomy into account,this lady is a bit weird in my opinion,sorry folks !???

Only it doesn\'t account for the other submissions all having similar scores. All of \'em mind, not just a few or even the majority, leaving a few stragglers that didn\'t catch the popular fancy.

My view too. Yellow One is super-talented, but that figure looks shocking to my eyes. Not even a decent paintjob can fix it.

Hey you guys! Leave dem Discworld sculpts alone! I love them, and their really nice. Though I\'ve yet to paint any of ther ones I have.

The death rockin\' is a little off around some of the cloak areas (I think Ritual pointed that out on another site and it stuck with me... now when I see that mini all I can see is the problems with the cloak!) but the quality is great, the subject matter is great, and for those thta care they look EXACTLY like the Kirby artwork in 3-D. I ten\'d \'em. I rate them as \"cool\" as any of the Freeman sculpts.

And as for the Odin Knight... not a fan of the model. That dude can PAINT but sometimes it\'s not gonna help matters.
