Ansel, read the previous posts properly.
We know Yellow One (Kiril) did not sculpt the figure, we are refering to his paint work and how we consider it to be below his usual and highly admired work.

Einion; I see where you are coming from, and if I have interpreted you correctly I too have some thoughts about the variation between Registered votes and Non-Registered votes.

As regards the Discworld sculpts, I have to agree with the commentators who suggest that there may be a serious fan \"carry over\" effect, simply because of the books

Seriously? This ^ is what you wanted to waste your second post, in a year, on?

A moan would not have included a question about how the registered/unregistered votes broke down; would more likely have run something like:

\"See this thing it\'s waaay too high in score something\'s going on there I hate this kind of thing it undermines everything that coolminiornot is all about wah wah WAH!!!\"

Hopefully you can see the difference now ;)

\'cause it\'s not just a treasure chest... it\'s the LUGGAGE! Can\'t you see the detail that went into the genuine sapient pearwood design?

Discworld is a series I have enjoyed immensely. Some of the books I found oddly preachy but I enjoyed them, and LOVE the mini\'s!

Booyah. Radom 1, Vincenti 0.

Kidding of course, but if you\'re a fan of fantasy and such I think you owe it to yourself to pick up some of those books. Out of the 30ish noivels he\'s got in the series theres about 3 or 4 sort of themed sub series. I like the \"Guards\" series the most, but \"Color of Magic\" is where it, and the luggage, all begins.

Give \'em a read Vincenti, I think you\'ll get a kick out of them. you might even rate the mini\'s a little higher!

agreed i love them all, i am gonna put in one very big order when i get the cash

re- kirils one, i quite like it, it seems you can polish a turd! crappy sculpt mostly, those feet, that flat useless cloak, but he picks it up pretty well imo

\"Small Gods\" is probably my favourite book. And it\'s a stand-alone book as well. Can be picked up and read even if you don\'t want to read any other Discworld book.

But, the Guards series also contain some of my favourite Discworld novels. He\'s keeping a surprisingly high level throughout the whole series, considering how many books he\'s written.

I think that with any licensed property there is going to be a tweak to the way a mini is voted on. With regards to the Discworld characters, for UK readers it will be how close they look to the Josh Kirby cover art I suspect (not sure what territories also got to see these covers, old Dragon magazine reviews of early Pratchett showed awful generic Fantasy art covers for the US). If it looks like Kirby it gets a 10, otherwise it\'s \"wrong\", even if it still is a luggage trunk with legs! I don\'t know if LotR minis score better if painted in colour schemes from the films? A lovely sculpt of a well known super-hero, sympathetically & skillfully presented, won\'t score very well if it doesn\'t match the established scheme of the property, I assume, just lots of comments asking why Darevevil is running around in a turquoise costume lol Do Space Marines painted in non-fluff colours score okay?

Just a thought. B.

shit like that has been going on as far as i can remmebr on cmon.
When scores are used to justify prices charged or to encourage sales then positive and negative sniping will and does happen (as well as the organised group voting)

i personaly don\'t care about scores.

Those last 7 days look fine to me. That hussar looks stunning.
Just because your favourite cmon member gets a lower score than somebody you don\'t know doesn\'t mean that they are cheating, maybe they are just better than you.

why does always cause such a big problem? they\'re not perfect, but their quite good. not a 9.6 ill grant you, but afterall, the score is just a number in the top right hand of the screen, just look at the mini and judge for yourself. as for being on top last 7 days, not all of them seem that great, but nothing really can be done, so just enjoy the good ones

frankly, i agree with nearly all of the scores posted, except for one. yellowone is a great painter, one of my favorites, but no offense, i dont think the mini is very cool.

notice i said \"cool\" - not well painted, or well sculpted, or whatever. IMHO coolness and technical execution are not strictly correlated. a mini can be cool, but not well executed, or well executed but not cool. our voting system is based on aesthetic preference, not technical execution. as trevor pointed out, its a matter of taste.

I'm in complete agreement with Einion here. Regarding the Elf Lord at least. I saw the Discworld ones (yes Small Gods is a good book, imagining the rage of the tortoise gave me a genuine lol) but didn't notice anything suspicious. That Elf though, when I saw it (in Joek's thread, not the original submission) I thought the score was a bit high, even given the fact that it's not my cup of tea I thought it was over-rated. What puzzled me though was the amount of votes placed. I even did a quick skim of the 9-10 range from a week either side. To be fair one or two other submissions from the time did have 200-400 votes registered, so 500+ isn't totally out of the question. Didn't say anything about it but since there's a discussion I'll add my opinion.

That guys sculpts always have way higher regular votes than registered votes. Most of his registered votes are low to mid 8's while regular votes are upper 9's. Does not make much sense.
