A-10 Warthog to Ork Bomber

I have left over pieces/parts from an A-10 Warthog (I\'m using the engines for another project) and had been thinking about converting it for awhile. Well I\'m home today but not feeling too well - so instead of painting....

More than a little thick; they\'d be about 6\' tall.

Me, I like to mock physics. I actually intend to make this thing as clearly incapable of flight - while still plane shaped - as possible.

Dude you are definately a nut!!! But in a good way of course! I love the idea, since orks are pretty ingenious themselves and make stuff that the imperium would categorize as INOP their own little pieces of work! lol

And lets not forget that if an Ork thinks it will work, then it will work. Gork and Mork are nice gods! If only that would work in the real world.

I don\'t recognise the head. It\'s not a sculpt is it? If so good work.

The head is an old 1980s Ork head. Someone on another thread said it came with the old Battlewagon -- but I only have 1 wagon and I have a pile of these heads.

I\'m impressed with the \"new\" Orks -- but there\'s no head that can compare with this one!

When I got started there was no doubt in my mind which head to use.

I thought that it looked similar to one of the old Ork plastics, but the passage of time must have warped my perception, because it looks far too well cast to be the old plastics that I remember!

You\'re just forgetting their very comic little bodies. I\'ll have to paint up one of my old Orks as a treat :)

I have a couple of those ork heads too - and some with Germanic helmets, etc - they\'tr pretty vool. I bartered them though, so I\'ve no idea where they\'re from...

I like the idea Mr J - can\'t wait to see the outcome... Incidentally - Isn\'t there another Ork plane WIP ...? Was it OrkyDave...? Can\'t remember the thread... I\'ll do a search on a mo.

I\'m fairly certain that the ork heads are from a big multi part box set from about 17 years ago. Think there were enough bits to make 30 with a selection of head (including mohawks, spiked helmets ( ) and the screaming mouth seen here.

I like the patch-up work you\'ve done on this - suitably orky and chunky. Look forward to seeing the whole thing assembled.

That definatley looks like the Battlewagon head. I have a driver with this head painted at home.

Plus you can just make it out here:

Spoke too soon, it also came in the Space Orks box, of which I had a few (have a whole Evil Sunz army from back in those days (1991, with like 2 guys painted)

Nice stuff Mr Justin!!! love the idea of defying physics too!

It is the very talented jakeSH who is making another ork fighta bomba from a model plane kit, although I am current working on/off a forgeworld fighta bomba I aint posted it yet!

Very nice. The A-10 is probably my favorite plane. I was thinking of how to make a 40k one at one time. The problem I run into is the proportions of a real model plane. I always imagine Ork Fightas as being kinda squat and stubby, and wide and chunky. Obviously real planes are not like built this. I also ran into a lot of trouble in the cockpit. A grot would fit fine, however an actual Ork would necessitate a completely new scratch built cockpit, and I\'m sure an Ork wouldn\'t allow a Grot to fly a Fighta.

My project is on hiatus for the time being. I just started college again after a several year hiatus so I\'m kinda busy. I\'m also thinking about finding a new plane. The orginal one looked less and less appropriate as I progressed farther along.

I wish you luck. Keep us updated.

This is starting to look really cool, how do you cut out the plasti-card ork glyphs as i\'ve tried it before and it doesn\'t work to well:( What thickness are you using?!

Really Liking it! James...
