Mule - neatly enough painted for a nice gaming mini. Shame the top photo of the mini front is so much darker than the three beneath it. Good to see the eye painted in, it does aid with providing a focal point. I'd like to either see greater depth in the silver areas, or the second metal colour used more often, just to break him up a bit.

Vanguard - the back is more interesting than the front. The face is lost. Very similar to the other two, which for an army makes a lot of sense :D

I've voted them both 6 :good:

Next step, it'd be nice if the wood had some grain. Grease dribbles from joints. Oxidation around rivets. Soot. Freehand, if only a unit symbol or dog-tag style serial number. Would a barcode be unsteampunk?

Keep up the rate of improvement mister :)

Cheers, B.

I think that the photo's are 'letting you down".
A very simple post production tweek got this:-

Which I think is showing the paintwork off a little better and possibly closer to reality.
Hope you agree

I wonder what I did wrong. I ran it through GIMP and used the color tools and autoed it. Is there something else I should do?

All I did was use (Photoshop)
Levels to drop the Mid tones and White slightly
Brightness/contrast tool +19 on both
Hue/Saturation +9 on saturation.

Now that's probably completely the wrong way to post production image manipulation but it is how I got it to look better on my screen.
With 90-100% sureity I'd say that Spacemunkie would be able to shoot my way down with a far better way of doing things, so I'm hoping he see's things so we can both learn. :smile-big:

I'm still struggling to get a decent picture, but I could just be overly critical of myself, so I'm more than willing to get any help I can.

Can't really add any more to what's been said. Up the contrast. I like the dirty look they both have though, look like thay have been in the wars
