A Couple of Rhinoxen (\'s)

I posted this WIP on a few other sites and thought I\'d better post it here as well or you\'ll all think Ive fallen into a hole. And yes Uber its another ogre.

It was opportune that a Rhinox race contest was announced on the stronghold the other day (What do you mean you havent heard of it go have a look now).
I had just been commisioned the other day to make a Rhinox for a friend so I figure it wont take much longer to make two rhinoxen (\'s whatever) instead of 1.

So I know what your thinking. \"Great another BL00DY tute on Rhinoxs\". Well yes, yes it is but thats the beauty of the net. And so I will kick of this tute.

OK I have made Rhinoxen(\'s) from scratch using an armiture

After I made this guy I never used him so I sold him to a fellow gamer. The back was too broad

I would prefer to use something more substantial as an armature as most of you guys who make your own Rhinoxen do.

This is one of two rhinoxen I use in games now.

So a friend of mine bought these bull riding orcs from a Czech company that I think is called Zvedza(sp?). They make all kinds of minis from historical to fantasy and the box came with six of these bulls. They only cost $45 oz which is about 25 euros and maybe $35 yank (USA).

Anyway here are the two I\'ll be using. Also I didnt have any ogres left (They just seem to disappear from my house for some reason) so I will be using \"Heroe quest\" (tm) ogre bodies and some of the thousand of ogre bits to help fit them into the theme of my friends army. Now he wants a generic type Rhinox so I wont go too fancy but then again you never know.

And this is the bit of progress I have done so far (Well it was Saturday night Im allowed one night of.

OK my latest update. Not much done but the prep work takes most of the time for these guys. Should start on the legs tonite then the rest should be easy.

I will give the ogres a chainmail undershirt with a normal shirt over the top I think. Not sure about the weapons yet maybe just a club but then again a lance would look cool.

Anyway Some progress made.

I have done the feet and started thickening the legs. I have also added some fur. The worst part of this is waiting for stuff to dry to do the next bit. I will do a tute on fur later I think. For the feet I used a press mould to make the toe nails. I made this from spare spru, hole drilled in it and then shaped with an exacto blade. If you have ever seen one of my tutes before you will know that I use spru quite extensively. Never throw it out it has 1001 uses. Maybe another tute in the offering.

Also I have progressed the ogres. I will also do a tute on chainmail later as there are several methods I chose the easiest one for these guys. Its amazing what a picture will pick up tho and I can see a few areas that need fixing but apart from the legs and a few additions from the bull packs (Knives and barrels etc) these guys are done.

OK thats it for now so I have a chain mail tute and a fur tute to do, Oh goody I love giving myself more work.

Did a bit more last nite. Got carried away playing Titan Quest so I didnt finish the fur last nite. I will finish the fur tonite tho

I didnt like the way the heads were sitting so I repositioned them. I think I should have made them lower but too late now.

So I think that most of the fur is done now. Doing a few trophies I may have got carried away but MEH!!

I also did a back banner for one of the Rhinox riders as it will be a std bearer

The pole was made from sprue and the grain was made with the saw I used to do the chain mal with.

So I will do the saddle tonite and maybe mount the riders and start on thier legs. Not much left to go.

That should bring me up to date.

OK I did a couple of pics showing the saddle. I need to flesh out the legs and the boots then a few touch ups and its a done deal.

The other one hasnt got the rider on it yet so I havent taken a pic yet. Also I was thinking of putting more baggage on it. Not sure about that but on the back quarters if I do.

This guy is near done now. A few bits to tidy and a couple of straps etc to add and he is done.

You do some great conversions.

And you do lots of them, all to a top standard. Id love to see you entire Ogre collection in person. Must be pretty impressive.
