Wow. I made a pun without trying.

I was wondering if there was anything that you could use around the house to make fall litter. Do you guys know what to use?

Dried herbs.

Oregano is a pretty good one.

Any umber of dried herbs broken up are good. I use rubbed sage to get a good leaf mold (kind of hard to work with). If you want color bits of broken dried flowers. but I would still top it with one or two of those elm seeds if you can get them to make it all believable.

I use tea leaves. I brew them first to get most of the \'tea\' out, rinse to try and get out anything else that might leak out and let dry. I drink a few herbal and flavour tea mixes, just using orange pekoe alone would probably be boring. Lipton (I think it\'s the brand) caramel vanilla in the pyramid bags has a nice brown mix with little stick looking bits that looks like detritus IMHO. You\'d probably want to paint it a bit or add in pinches of other things as it\'s good shapes but a bit uniform in colour.

Ive actually seen convincing fall litter by taking a real dead dry leaf and crubbling it to small pieces and gluing it down..looked rather convincing.

How long does it last? Don\'t the leave dry out too much and break off?

Seals the leaves nicely and helps prevent leaf \"Fall Off\"

Well since I glue down most ground work with clear matt medium and seal with a sealer like dull coat..pretty much forever. Now iif your playing with them and rubbing them it might not last forever.

EB, I got some dried leaves from up north a couple of years back. (our leaves don\'t change colors here in FL. ). They were dried in an oven at about 150 for an hour. Since then, they\'ve been kept in a baggie. I bring out a couple of them (red, yellow, orange) crush them up in another baggie and spinkle on a base that has watered down PVA on it. Let dry, repeat if necessary. Seal with Dulcoat.

Do not give them an ink wash, :no: but you can drybrush lightly to give them some highlights.

I\"ve also used Fennel (sp?) from my wife\'s spice rack for green litter.

Thanks Airhead. I remember living in the South. Fall was barely noticeable and winter was a week long. lol
