Yes and no. I\'m sick of it but I just avoid it.
For me West Ham played like men posessed in the tail end of the season and I was rooting for them to stay up. They deserved it as a team, regardless of Tevez or not. The teams that went down simply never looked like Premiership teams.
All the legal kerfuffle, whilst I get the cause (West Ham did act outside of the rules) and I get the reason for the relegated clubs wanting to fight (a good 50 million or so for being in the Premiership) it\'s done, a decision\'s been reached, and can\'t we just bloody move on?
And you do realise that there are going to be far more posts about American football vs football (with rugby getting involved too) than about the West Ham sittuation right?

I Agree, The Hammers made a mistake, got caught, rectified the mistake, got punished, but they also fought there way out of relegation by winning matches at the end of the day thats what it\'s about.

All I know is that if West Ham hadnt showed the spirit that they did they would be down end of story. As lono says the others just didnt deserve it, they didnt play well enough and thats it really.
One thing i\'m looking forward to next season it Big Sam incharge of Newcastle, they should do well i hope.

My brother\'s a Forest fan. I think I\'d be better off not contacting him until he gets over it (probably circa 2010).
As for West Ham, the points they won were won on the pitch and they deserved to stay up. If Sheff Utd can\'t do better than win one of their last ten and can\'t beat Wigan at home to stay up then they deserved to go!

Tevez has been a superstar and utterly instrumental in them fighting their way out of relegation.
Completely unfair on Sheffield United - they deserve to stay up.

I guess it depends where you are.. Here in America we just call it football and Not American football. Nore do we call your game English football..we just call it soccer..
\'Deserve\'? Why? If they\'d done their job on the pitch they would have stayed up. They were clearly the third worst team in the division. I think they deserved to go down.
Don\'t get me wrong, I\'m no lover of West Ham and I think they were deceptive in their dealings but really the only clubs bleating about them getting a points deduction were those with the most to gain; Wigan, Charlton and Sheff Utd! (notice how Fulham went quiet once they\'d secured their survival) Their motives weren\'t in the best interests of football, they were in the best interests of themselves, so it\'s rich them trying to claim the moral high ground.
The ones who do deserve to go are Scudamore and the other incompetents at the Premier League who took so long over this, fudged it and made it an issue. I think they thought that West Ham would go down anyway so the five and a half million fine was sufficient and everything would turn up roses.
Tevez was inspired though, I\'ll give you that.

Sheffield deserve to stay up because West Ham broke the rules and weren\'t punished. Pretty simple really.

West Ham WERE punished - by way of a five and a half million pound fine. Peanuts granted in lieu of the fact they stayed up but the commission will argue they didn\'t have to deduct points it was only an option. You can talk about precedents with Wimbledon etc but they\'ll tell you they\'ll judge each case on their merits.
As I said, I think the Premier League dug their own grave by leaving it too late to make a decision. I think West Ham should have been punished and they were. Should it have been more severe? Probably but I\'m just uncomfortable with matters like this resulting in a loss of points. Had they fielded 13 players then yes but I feel it was too cloudy an issue to hand out a penalty with such immense ramifications.
I would have felt more disposed to Sheff Utd had Mr Warnock focused more on his own team rather than blaming West Ham; Carlos Tevez; The Premier League; Alex Ferguson for fielding a weakened team against West Ham; Rafa Benitez for the same against Fulham; referees; his wife; the weather; José Mourino\'s dog etc
Try to win more games Neil instead of playing 4-5-1 and then this situation wouldn\'t have arisen.
Anyhow I\'m biased against the Blades \'cos I lost count of the number of Sheff Utd fans who \'invaded\' the Leeds forums gloating at our demise when we got relegated this time around so yes, my spectacles are probably more than a hint of rose...
