A Host worthy of the Gods!

Hello painters!

The daemon host has had to brood in my army case for a bit as I have just got done getting over a serious case of bronchitis for the past 2, nearly 3 weeks. I worked on the guys a little last night and have moved my deadline to March 7th, as having to go back and forth between the doctors and trying to keep up with classes has put me drastically behind.

Anyways, I got some Tamiya Red Clear for my Khorne units. After reading through the codex and looking through some White Dwarves, an illustration of some \'letters emerging really caught my eye. They\'re glistening with blood and have a distinct sheen to them. So, with this idea, I went forward and applied the concept to my jugger and my \'letters. Let me know what you think. They look much better in person.

More to come as I want to take hold of this urge to get my army finally done!

One thing I find really sticks out on the bloodletters is the gap between their forehead and the rest of their cone heads. I\'m usually not one for filling all gaps myself, but becuase it\'s on the head it\'s very obvious.

Slowly but surely, I\'ll get this done.

Have a good one!

Thanks for the compliments :)

To get the blood effects, I used Tamiya Red Gloss for the first layer to establish the base red layer. Then, I blob some down on a pallete and let it dry for a minute or two so that it becomes thick and clumps up. This creates \"clots\" on the weapons. From there on, I just went crazy with it :D

Well this certainly has not been my year! With law school stuff coming together now I seem to not be able to get as much work done as I want to on my daemons. Fear not though, it’s happening. Due to a recent tragedy, my laptop completely bit the dust. Unfortunately, it was the night before a major project was due for my capstone major course. Thank whatever higher power you respond to for external hard drives! It saved everything and I was able to get my stuff turned in. My laptop was under warranty so it’s covered!

So now, I’m on Spring break, only working and with nothing else to do. What can I do?

Paint my ass off!

I’ve gotten more done in the last two days than I have been able to in the last month and a half. I’ve just got to add snow to the ‘letters bases; jugger’s completely done; plague bearers are painted and just need to be based; flamers need a little bit more work; then it’s onto the palanquin and some furies. We’re almost there and I still have so much more of the week to go!

I made sure to work on all of my projects for my classes ahead of time already so I can actually finish up my entire 1500 pt set beautifully. I could have had it done so much faster if I wasn’t so picky about everything, but I want to do this the right way. I’ll have pics up as soon as my new laptop comes in, until then I’m on a friend’s!

So close to being done!

Alright, after a long pause in the progress of my army, here\'s an update. I finally have the ability to put pictures from my camera back up on my computer so here\'s a tidbit of what I have been working on.

Here\'s my Nurgle Herald:

I have more to come, I just ran out of time shooting the entire army and only got a chance to get my herald displayed correctly.

As always, comments and feedback are always appreciated.

Cheers,
Jake

he looks good, id suggest picking out some extra detail on the swarm of guys holding the throne so it looks more like a writhing mass and not just a blob. Other then that very nurgly.

Thanks :)

The picture makes them look darker than they really are. In person they look goey but you can still see each one well and individually. I really need to work on getting my shots right :cussing:

Well I decided that my original pictures weren\'t that good so I went back and reshot them and got the light right as well as the settings for my camera set. I also downloaded GIMP and scaled the pictures and set the levels just right.

Here\'s some shots of my army so far:

Very, very close to being all done with this army. Then it\'s on to my High Elf army!!!

Thanks for looking, and as always, comments and criticism is appreciated!

Yeah the new pics do make the nurgle lord look much clearer. Im also really liking the plague bearers, the gore and blood isnt the standard and I think it looks great.

Well, welcome to the forum and thanks for the compliments :)

Things I look to work on as I go forward with this project:

To me the \'letters and the juggernaut are a disappointment in the pictures; they look so much better in person and it\'s a disappointment that they don\'t look as good in the pictures. I always have trouble with reds in my pictures so I\'m going to try to find a way to fix this eventually. Oh well, always next time.

The mold lines on some of the models caught me off guard, especially with my Nurgle herald. I thought I had got all those suckers, but one thing that the tamiya clear coat does is really expose places that have mold lines or any imperfections. I\'ll try to be more careful next time.

Anyways, back to work.

Cheers,
Jake
