A letter to my British friends

The US has a video format called NTSC while Europe has a format called PAL. Most modern players can play both, though... The region thing is about coding and is also different between US and Europe, but here as well, most modern DVD players are region free.

Seems those most offended by this affair are American republicans... :]

Seriously chaps... I really wouldn\'t worry about it. Brown is an utter lackwit and I\'m embarrassed by the fact that he\'s representing the UK in any shape or form.

haha.. hm. Maybe Obama taps into to the public opinion of UK?

@sg2009: Yes it is about American party politics.

I\'m sure Obama hates the brits and wishes to wage a war upon them. I\'m sure both he and Gordon Brown personally buy their own gifts.

Yeah eh..? Any reason to try and bring Obama down, it\'s going to be hard considering who you guys had as the last republican in office.

Well, I hadn\'t heard about this, but then I haven\'t been checking the news in depth. I guess the t.v. news didn\'t bother with this story.

Anyway, On behalf of my nation, I humbly accept your apology, Airhead and Shawn.

....although Brown is a right ninkumpoop.

Nah, he\'ll do it on his own. Especially when the cap and trade on electricity comes into effect. When the middle class that thought they were getting tax cuts instead find out they are the \"rich\". I\'ve got many Democrats in my family and they already have buyer\'s remorse.
It took Carter to get Reagan.
The wave always corrects itself.
Maybe we can finally get a libertarian.

OK, Vike what about the

You are missing my point.

I can refute, you will just come up with a whole new bunch of things. It\'s a never ending cycle. That BOTH sides engage in. Meanwhile, the tires are spinning and about to come off the car.

We should rise ABOVE the politics of this. Educate ourselves, and stop letting Keith Olberman, or Rush Limbaugh, or any of these stupid ass pundits tell us what to believe.

Actually, I despise both sides and believe we need to get all of them out of office and set term limits on all seats including the Supreme Court.
However, as I am far more Constitutionalist Libertarian, I tend to despise the left more.
Government is a necessary evil, leftists (in this country) tend to want more of the evil than is necessary.

I see no logical reason to interpret the Constitution liberally when it can be changed to mean exactly what it says through amendments.
And since the constitution is the rules for the government (Not the people) I see no wisdom in applying it liberally.

Edit:
I want neither side to get too much power. I would have been happy with a Republican President and a Democratic Congress or Vice Versa. Checks, Balances all that Jazz.

Obama shouldn\'t have even given brown permision to land.

the brownovich hoon is the one that is responsible for this financial mess.
he deregulated the the UK banking sector which is the world financial hub (or was at least) and ignored the warnings from the few responsible people amongst his appointed board.
the fsa was the ones that were responsible for repackaging the bad debt allowing the american companies to resell it in america.
he okayed the selling of insurance packages on the debt.
he bankrupted ice land (an ally of the uk) by using anti terrorism laws against them, to protect various goverment funds from being lost (funds they claimed they never had, which is why they kept on bringing in more and more stealth taxes!)

trust me, obama would have done the world a favour if he had ordered browns plane to be shot down.
the hoon known as brown, the unelected tw@t, has openly blamed america on t.v. and then goes to america and kisses the american president s arse, the snot goblar has no bloody pride what so ever.

don\'t apologise guys, brown is a political/economic terrorist and should be sentanced to death for his marxist crimes.

Here is another American that wishes to say our Commander in Chief is a Chump

I have to second (or rather third) the sentiments of airhead. I realize that it is the liberal mentality to belittle and berate those who are not of the liberal faithful and to blindly excuse the complete lack of tact and respect to one of the biggest allies that the United States has. It’s all fun and games until you take your international reputation to a level miles below the Bush standard.

If you show such “respect” to your friends, eventually your friends will start to say “no.” No matter how much “respect” you try to show your enemies, they will always say “no.” Soon your friends will hate you and you enemies will always hate you. Soon your friends will think you are an illogical idiot and your enemies have always known that.

But the biggest joke of them all is the lame excuse that was recently released. Apparently, according to his aides who really blew the diplomacy check big time, the president was too tired and was “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown.

Yes the policies he\'s done sound very Marxist. The commies are all for de-regulations! De-regulation is the new Lada, spiffy!

WHAT? Anything to make Obama look bad huh? Who the hell cares what presents he gave the prime minister?? Shouldn\'t we be more worried about what hes doing for our country? Honestly, I am an extremely far left person (I decided that most of the ideals of communism were awesome before I even knew that communism existed or what it was) so I get really angry when people try to throw meaningless crap at more left wing people. Seriously. This doesnt matter.

(Sorry I respect that people can have thier own opinions but I rarely agree with them):p

I am not sure I would care much about a friend who measures my friendship by the nature of trinkets that are on display in my house/office. It suggests misplaced sense of priorities. We are not in high school, you know.

@skeeve: It depends on your ego.. :) small things can become very important, I recommend the series \"Curb your Enthusiasm\" if you haven\'t already seen it. That\'s a man that knows the value priorities! ;)

@Tzor: The reputation you get internationally is due to your foreign policy, so that\'s what you should worry about. This means nothing in the long run. Unfortunate as all diplomatic mistakes, but hardly the first time something like this happens.

So now we are all worried about our international reputation?

After years of telling countries to f* off? Creating enemies where we had none, and alienating all the other NATO countries, you are \'embarassed\' by the shoddy diplomacy of a bad gift, and an inconvenient schedule change?

That\'s akin to shitting all over the neighbors yard, stealing the newspaper, and picking on their kids, and then being shocked your wife gave them Kool-aid instead of Mineral Water.

TAKE THE BLINDERS OFF!!!

It\'s about showing respect to the closest ally we have. And when that allies Prime Minister is presented with a gift that is one step above a Chia Pet, that nation\'s population might get the idea that their friendship means about as much as that of, oh, say, Venezuela.

And you know what, everyone that I talked with about this story today had the same dumbfounded look on their face. So if a bunch of people in a factory could see how inappropriate a gift it was, how is it that it slipped past our nation\'s finest.

Last thing, if ole \"W\" had pulled this stunt, we would have all been sharing a laugh at how stupid he was, after viewing the story on every major news network in the country. Where\'s the coverage?

Well, then I feel sorry for aforementioned population. But then again, if population measures \"respect\" in gifts then may be it deserved it.

No pun or disrespect intended here Necro, guess this is just for sake of conversation.

I am very worried what he is doing for our country. Main thing I am worried about is billions of dollars in his stimulus package going towards projects that in no way shape or form will help stabilize the economy. Also just the fact that the guy has no experience in international politics and say what you will but this problem is on a global scale. Hundreds of billions of dollars being sunk into our economy won\'t help the bigger picture.

Now to get back on topic, even though I am not \"pro Obama,\" I don\'t think he did anything wrong. If it wasn\'t for the way that the media likes to blow pointless things such as this out of proportion, we would be worrying about things that really matter such as the economy or the fact that our soldiers are still dieing in Iraq and Afghanistan. By \"our\" soldiers I don\'t only mean US troops, I mean US, UK, Australian, Canadian, Polish and whichever other country is supporting us.
