A load of balls

If I wanted to say add a gem to a mini or something equally round like a little jingley bell or an eyeball, what\'s the best way to do it?

So far whenever I roll a little ball from the GS I end up squashing the hell out of it when I try and stick it to the mini. How do I get it to stay where I want it without flattening it?

I did type out a reply but by the time I finished I got logged out. There, I shall just put a link to what I was describing. I\'m sure you could do something similar with gems and such.

Or you could roll the ball of putty and wait until it\'s cured before adding it.

The trick with the brass tube is good for flat stuff and rivets but what I\'m after is something spherical. I\'m trying to put some little jingly bells on that wierdboy so they need to have holes etc put in them after theyr\'e stuck on. I suppose sculpting them before sticking them on might work but it\'s a bit of a pain in the bum with something so small.

Any time I need to do something like this, I roll up the needed size of sphere in Apoxie Sculpt then either let it set overnight, or if I am impatient I carefully set it up with my heatgun.

Once it\'s hardened, you can refine the shape with a layer of putty over the hardened sphere.

You can put apoxie sculpt in the oven and harden it if you don\'t have a heatgun. Low temp, say 145 F for a few minutes after the oven has preheated.

If you don\'t use apoxie or magic sculpt, you can use plumbers putty and get the same effect, with only having to wait less than 10 minutes for the putty to harden on it\'s own.

If you are limited to greenstuff only, then use a heat lamp to harden up the spheres. If you don\'t have a heatlamp, you can make one with a coffee can, a light bulb attached to a cord and some tinfoil with holes poked in it.

If you don\'t have a coffee can, I don\'t know what to tell you. Good luck.

You could always create a stamp or series of stamps as well from plasticard. Just drill (very shallowly) into the card, and then file it with a small file at about 45degrees, working the file around the egde of the divot. it may take a few tries (as it did for me) and always remember to use something to lubricate the GS from teh stamps or you will have a mess. I use a short bit of plastic rod glued to the end of a two inch or so dowel for mine.

My wife note this: why not just heat up a ball point pen tip with a lighter and press it into the plastic rod? She\'s a genius.

know anybody that reloads shotgun?

Find the right shot size and get a few from him. You really don\'t want to buy a 5 or 10 lb. bag of tiny shot for a few.

Doh, just realized you are in the land of government owned guns - nevermind.

What I\'m trying to do is sculpt a load of bells like the ones on this picture of Jesterz that I mocked up.

They are to go on my wierdboy conversion. His trousers are already covered in them so I want to add a few to the jacket.

Every time I get the tiny ball rolled out it gets mangled before I can get it to stay where I put it. I had pretty much the same problem with his new googly eye. Once the ball is there it needs a little hole and a line to make it look like a bell.

sculpt one full bell. let cure.

make some GS for a mold and press it into the mold in several places.

one side with bell detail the other side just sphere.

after your mold has cured and you can make more then do so and just mate the halves and fix them in place with glue or a bit more GS....or your prefere sculpting medium.
