a look back after voting on all CMON3 entries

After voting on all the CMON3 contest entries that are in so far, I am a bit disappointed. After seeing the CMON3 mini for the first time I was sure that I was going to see some fabulous work, like the previous contest minis, but better, more detailed and on nice display bases.

There are some great entries this time (Angela\'s and Tabitha\'s come to my mind first), but the biggest part of the entries is in the 7-8 points range, which is good, but not excellent.

Was the mini too complex for a competition like this? Wasn\'t there enough time? Other reasons? Or do you completely disagree? Your opinion please!

(btw: this thread isn\'t meant to be offensive against the competitors. Most of the minis I\'ve seen were very good. You all did a great job! Congrats!)

Strange pose (I would rather have the cape behind, instead of swinging out front), bad casting, horrible face for a painter to deal with, Games Day Golden Demon entries are Priority 1, and it\'s summer so either people have vacations, are swamped at work or have other priorities. ???

I\'m suprised there are only two in the 8\'s. I didn\'t really like the mini to begin with, and now I am sure that I hate it when I see them painted up. I really think there is somthing to the sculpt that makes it just ugly.:flip::bouncy:

I\'ve seen the mini IRL, and I must say it looked a lot better than on a picture. The cape makes it look very flat on a picture I think.

uhhh....

i gave up... mine was AWEFUL, i tried soooo hard on it, but it was just...weird...mine was very hard to paint, the eyes were difficult

so i gave up. but thats ok cause i was able to work more on my minis for Grail Quest Con down here in sunny fla.

How about we do a sci-fi mini for the next one, all 3 of the others have been fantasy (and all female if you don\'t count the male one for the first contest)

Phew Corvus, so glad you said it first. I did my voting last night and I was kinda disappointed too. There were a couple of outstanding entries, but mostly fairly average. I did notice lots of comments re difficulty with the figure - it seemed more of a chore to paint, so perhaps that accounts for the lack of enthusiasm??? Oh and before anyone tells me off for being negative, all of the entries were well done but a lot just lacked that certain \'something\'

I also noticed a lot of unnatural looking colors for the horses. I think painting horses is something that needs a lot of practice, and the choice of colors is crucial.

The mini was alright it just had some glaring defects in key areas, the horses hind legs, the face, the cape and the feet. THe general feel of the model was good but you need a perfect sculpt for perfect results.

I gave up after botching two models and then running out of time.

I think that people have done an awesome job painting this mini, but the first thing I though about when I saw it were, where\'s the stirrups at?? It seem like she has a saddle, but no stirrups, isn\'t that weird? Or have I just been ignorant? In that case, I\'m sorry, but it just seemed strange. Hm...I\'ve been watching the Euro 2004 game between Sweden and Denmark, and I had a few (yeah right) beers, so I might be a bit off track...(Forza norden, Sverige och Danmark till kvartsfinal!!)

Most that I saw were pretty well done. But I just don\'t like the miniature, something about the sculpt bugs me. I didn\'t order one, I\'m planning on waiting for the next contest when maybe we\'ll get a SF themed mini... (plus this contest caught me in the middle of stress time at work, job hunting and general painter\'s malaise)

I\'ve just looked at the Competition miniatures in \"Decending Order\" and I\'m amazed. This morning (UK time) the top three mini\'s were all a full decimal point higher than they are now.
Both of SaxonAngels have dropped to 8.8 & 8.5 respectivly after gaining about 20 votes. Tabithatan has dropped to 8.1 after about the same number of votes.

I know that the majority of opinion is not in favour of this mini but, someone\'s taking the P**s here!

Not impressed, seems like there\'s all too many negative votes, with no comments to support the rating. So I suppose that I\'ll watch mine plummet even further now that I\'ve voiced my opinion.
