I had the same issues, I really didn\'t like the mini that much and just couldn\'t get into it. I really had to push myself to finish it in time for submission. Looking forward to the next contest.
I also wanted to throw a thought out there, and please don\'t flame me to death over this, but here goes.
As much as I admire the abilities of folks like Angela who can paint, sculpt and convert like nobody\'s business, I\'d love to see one competition here that is a \"paint the firgure as it is, no conversion allowed\" sort of thing.
I know that there are plenty of other contests out there like that, just wanted to see what others thought about the idea...

It\'s as bad as the whining about the Golden Demons...
This strikes me as amusing since my model that place third in the last contest was bashed on a couple of French forums because it was NOT converted.
And in the last contest the one that was converted was some two pages behind in the descending score.
I swore to myself that IF I could find the time to do something with this somewhat lacking figure, it would be a conversion. So I did. This is obviously a HUGE issue for some people. Though Chern has made it pretty clear that conversions are welcome.
Maybe we should have a non-conversion, non-diorama, non freehand, non-NMM, no-competitors with a mini above 8 contest. Just to make it fair. And to stop the whining.

and if you think sniping is bad on your figs Klute. Try having something creep into the top ten last 7 days... For about a nano-second.
It takes months guys... But the scores do readjust themselves.
BTW thanks for anyone who actually did like the figure.
Now I\'ll sit and watch my scores drop in relative peace.

A comment on sniping
I think it\'s become much worse lately. I growse by watching the gallery of 8+ minis. Now before, you could see them, say, a couple of votes after they were uploaded (to weed out the 5\'s that gave themselves a 10 ) and you had nearly the final ratings.
Nowadays, minis will pop in and out of this 8+ gallery because people snipe it to a 7, then it gets hoisted back up, then back down...
As for a no-conversion contest, let me use an argument I actually don\'t like : this is CoolMiniOrNot, not CoolPaintjobOrNot.

Yeah I noticed that, I\'ve had minis going up and down lots recently.
