A MODEST PROPOSAL

I\'ve recently seen the error of my ways. I formerly thought that a relatively wide-open, minimally regulated envoirment, like the Internet, fostered creativity. I now realize that it is much more important to have things strictly regulated in order to avoid any possible annoyance. Therefore, I\'d like to propose the following guidelines.

1 - All photos must be of the highest quality. If your photo would not be accepted for publication by \"National Geographic\", do not bother submitting it. You may wish to consider having your pictures done by a reputable professional photo studio.

2 - To be accepted, all submissions must include the exact name, stock number, and UPC of the mini.

3 - If you submit the mini to the wrong category or manufacturer, you will be suspended from any further submissions for a period of 6 months.

4 - All minis must be accompanied by a description. Minimum requirements would be: a step-by-step description of the assembly and painting process, a list of all colors used and an equivalent color from at least one other manufacturer. Not required, but recommended, would be the price you paid for the mini and the place of purchase. If the mini is a conversion or a self-sculpted piece, an instructional video on its construction would be a welcome touch.

5 - Because lower quality minis offend the sensibilities, all minis will be accepted only on a conditional basis. If at any time, the score of your mini drops below a 7, it will be immediately rejected. Two or more minis rejected by this process will mean that you must go before the official submissions board before you will be allowed to submit anything further.

6 - In order to insure the fastest possible operation, we will be limiting the number of minis posted by any one person to 2. Our proud supporters, however, will be allowed 4.

I think if these policies are adopted, the CMON experience will be greatly enhanced.

PS - stay tuned for my suggestions on how to improve the voting policy!

Geee, a sarcastic post, we haven\'t seen those yet

Just kidding, what happened to you for being so upset dauber? :)

I think it\'s the new Submission guidelines and what everyone has posted on that thread, Tuubje. Of course, everything on that thread is something I\'ve read over and over again on here for the past year.

And that\'s just during the time I\'ve been a member here. I\'m sure it\'s something that comes up at least once a month. Am I right? ;)

Sarcasm! A lost art form revitalised, close relative of Irony and Cynicsm.

(When \"The Wall\" first came out I always thought that Pink Flloyd were singing \'Dark Star Chasm\'. I\'ve got a better Hi Fi now)

Unfortunately for former tree-sitting poo-flingers, it seems just about everyone agrees with the submission guidelines. But for your particular needs of minuscule hazy blobs labeled \'another mini\', you can always go and take a look at CrappyMiniOrNot.

Tips for those for whom the new guidelines make it impossible to post a mini :

1. Don\'t take the picture while practising trampoline, or other equally agitated activities. Fight down your (constant) sugar rush and try taking the pic from a stable position for a change.

2. Take the picture with your camera horizontal. I\'m sure you feel it makes you look all artsy and stuff, but rotating your camera to take a portrait picture (as opposed to the much more convenient landscape setup) doesn\'t help much, especially if you\'re taking the picture from across the room.

3. Don\'t take the picture from across the room, or the pic will be too small. Bigger IS better, whatever other people say (even in another context).

4. If you feel the urge to post sarcastic stuff aimed at people who\'re working benevolently to make your viewing experience more pleasurable, take two steps away from your computer and count to 10^12.

That should get you through the new Borg filter.

Actually, I have strict guidelines regarding submissions to my special gallery. The minis must at least be named, and preferably older as they tended to be cast as undescribable blobs! In case you have not actually seen my gallery, check it out!!!

CRAPPY MINI OR NOT

If you woul dlike to contribute an entry, please let me know! I can give you very strict guidelines :p

Ok, I\'m done counting:D Now I\'d like to point out that my sarcasm was not aimed at Borg or CA, but at the community in general, myself included. Specifically, it was aimed at the flury of nitpicking and whining... I mean \"further suggestions\"... that was posted following the announcemlent of the new guidelines.

Frankly, I completely understand the new guidelines and believe they are probably a good thing. I\'ve voted on nearly every mini on this site (currently short 142) and am not particularly fond of formless blurs either.

I. Thou shalt take good pictures

II. Thou shalt not take bad pictures

III. Thou shalt not take the name of the ANOTHER MINI thy God in vain.

IV. Remember the description, to keep it descriptive.

V. Honour people with nice minis.

VI. Thou shalt not post if you paint like my dog.

VII. Thou shalt not comment without long reflexion.

VIII. Thou shalt not ask about the voting system.

IX. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

X. Thou shalt not covet any thing that is top ten\'s.

Oh ok, my bad, I thought you just had a bad day and were nailing Borg and CA.

Oh. Um. Honestly, when you opened the gallery, I zoomed through it out of curiosity, though \"wow, those are crappy all right\", and never went back. :innocent: I wonder then if I should create CrappyPhotoOrNot.com... lol Anyway, I\'d love to contribute, but while I have bad minis, I don\'t have any of historical value :D.

Remember Guen?

She\'s been stripped and is currently primed and awaiting me to get off my butt and take in-progress pictures.

She already looks better and she\'s just primed. lol

An Indecent Proposal....

I thought this was the thread where Robert Redford offered me 1,000,000 bucks to sleep with my wife.....

Is that a different thread?

Thank you. I\'m glad you caught the referrence. Not, of course, that I\'m really a viscious bastard :innocent::innocent:

ps - supervike: I believe that\'s hiding somewhere in the \"chocolate lesbians\" thread.

I was actually waiting for someone else to get the reference - but apparently you and I are the only two folks here with the intestinal fortitude to admit to reading that particular piece of Swiftian hyperbole on an international forum

Give credit

I think many people get the ref. I haven\'t read it, but few people haven\'t heard of it. It comes up often enough. There was \"Another Modest Proposal\" in the USA abortion arena about using aborted fetuses (I know it should be feti) for medical research. It\'s such a part of our culture I didn\'t think it needed explaining.
Or perhaps I was wrong and we\'re all becoming a bunch of uneducated buffoons who don\'t know anything that doesn\'t involve a bunch of ordinary people voting each other out of the prize.

Unfortunately, I fear it may be the later :(
Not meaning you personally, of course, but as a culture in general
