A moment of clarity

It suddenly hit me this morning that after churning out hundreds of golden demon winning minis
(clears throat) :eyeroll!: that it matters not how good I paint them BUT without good photography it falls down when
posting them on the gallery.

A decent photo will make or break a mini. (Yes is obvious I know).

The problem herewith is that I do not possess the prowess, equipment, knowledge, time, good looks or even the bravery in battle of a photographer.

So the conclusion seems to be that I will carry on being happy with my work but not my photos.

yup. sounds about right. if you have the time, the prowess and knowledge can be gleaned from the photography section. no good looks there though...

Im certainly no expert myself but looking at your Space Hulk figure i think that one would have perhaps been better with a black background. I use an old black t-shirt taped to the wall, nothing fancy. Also the front view looks a little out of focus. I always take several pictures of each view incase i get some out of focus (which happens more often than not!)

1 Adequate light source
2 White balanced light source
3 To diffuse or not to diffuse the light source.
4 A background that compliments, not competes with, the subject.
5 Not too much, not too little background.
6 Shooting from a distance so as not to get a fisheye look.
7 Practice.............
