RAP!!!!

its jsut telentless drivvel, spouted by a bunch of people shouting crap about being shot, and doing \"drive bys\" with there \"homies\". i jsut cant see why ppl listen to it!

You\'ve just gotta look past the drivel that is shoved into your face and passed off as rap.

Most people are turned off by their first taste of it, usually through MTV or its ilk, and decide to go into intolerant lock-down mode. If it\'s rap, it\'s crap. It\'s become sooo bloody cool to disparage the genre, and to disparage the people who think themselves cool for listening to it. Vicious cycle, really. In the end, we\'re all just self-righteous pricks listening to an odd collection of noises. We\'ve just apparently gotten into our heads that some noises are cooler than others......:D

Err, that being said, gangster rap sucks, and so do all the people who listen to it. :p

So sue me, I\'m a hypocrite. :D As for rap I do like, K-OS is pretty good, as is Blackalicious, Pharcyde, and A Tribe Called Quest.

I\'m not going to list my other musical tastes, as I\'m sure they\'ve all been said many times over.

Just saw a DVD of David Gilmore live. If you are into Pink Floyd this is a MUST. He puts a bit of a different spin on the Floyd stuff (along with other stuff) and it\'s just amazing.

I wouldnt class Enya as Alternative.. more New Wave. Alternative to me is that cross between 80\'s electronica, punk and rock. Like NIN maybe.

Anyone else go nuts listening to Ambient? You know, sometimes I\'ll give it a chance, thinking the next part *must* have something more interesting... but nooooo, its the same thing over and over and over.. and it seems to go on for 2 hours. (well I dont know really, I tend to throw it out the window before it finishes) How people can pass this off as \'techno\' is beyond me.

eclectic tastes

Cathy says that I should reply here, so I will.:D

I have a wide-ranging collection of music... everything from Alison Krause to Godsmack, and in between.

Cathy is still finding out after 4 years how many different and strange things I listen to. Her poor CD changer had this set of CD\'s the other day:

Shinedown- Leave a Whisper
Lee Ann Rimes-Twisted Angel
La Femme Nikita soundtrack
Blue Collar Comedy Tour
Lord of the Rings ROTK soundtrack.

I usually end up combining things like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Emmylou Harris, Nickleback with Nanci Griffith, just to freak her out.lol

Of course, there is also my vast collection of Celtic music, Tejano music, Chinese flute, Japanese drums, Native American. The list goes on and on.
