A Painter\'s Nitemare

The worstest thing is going on.

Yesterday I took my painting stuff out into the garden to do bit of sunbathe painting and it was really nice but then a few hours later I\'m peacefully sitting on the couch watching TV when my hand starts hurting. Half an hour later the pain had crept into my wrist and I couldn\'t use my hand at all anymore. When I woke up this morning it was better although a dull pain could still be felt. This afternoon I sat down to paint again and first it was alright but then it started again, now I have that nasty paint in both wrists. This sucks, it\'s the painter\'s nitemare. and I\'m in the middle of my Freebooter contest miniature, too.
But now I have to keep my hands still and wait. Bah.
Anyone of you ever had this happen?

I have Ostio Arthritis, not bad, but from time to time it can be crippling. It casues the first digit on each finger to hurt when pressure is apllied. With strain injuries from playing guitar or using my pc I am used to just soaking my hands in warm water and reading a book or watching a movie, waiting for them to get better. Fortunatly that doesn\'t happen too often, maybe once a month.

Sounds like a touch of repetative strain injury there. You might be able to sue the miniatures industry for damages! This time next year you\'ll be a miwionaire.

use your feet....

how limber are your toes???lollol

My wrist hurts constantly....I think have that repetitive strain injury thingy...

It is unfair, because my mom told me when I was younger, that If I kept that up, I would go blind, I didn\'t know it would hurt my poor little hand as well....lollol

It\'s called \'W*nker\'s Cramp\'. It differs from \'Gripper\'s Cramp\' in various, but subtle, ways:D

Hmmm I\'m not sure its the miniatures industry that is to blame... i reckon its likely to be all the time Gyp spends on the fabled CMON forums...

Yes, this does sound like the repetative strain injury thing. Take a break. You could also try using those sylicone pads they put under keyboards.
And I know how frustrating it is, I broke my arm about a year ago and for a looong while I couldn\'t paint for more than an hour per day because my arm would start hurting. Comfs ...

ugh RSI :( I had a very bad case of tendonitis some time back which has pretty much cleared up now.

FWIW, I switched to one of those ergonomic keyboards (those ones that are split in the middle). Check your posture while painting, I know I slouch like no tomorrow. Take breaks and move your wrists from time to time. Alternate heat treatments with cold. I stayed away from anti-inflammatory drugs but those are also an option.

Sorry to hear about your pain. :( Have a doc check it out and find out exactly what the problem is!
