Hey guys, just finished (except the bases) my pair of GK Terminators that will flank either side of the squad when finished. I went with elementals for the force weapons and the SOB crest is because they will be allied with my final SOB army when completed.

Keep in mind I've only been painting for 3 weeks.

C&C needed!

Also, what do you think is a good name for them both? I havnt written their names yet...

Cheers

Sorry for the size, cant edit them on current computer.

That's a really good start, especially for someone who has only been painting for a few weeks.

Glazing in some highlights and shadows onto the armor would add a lot to them. Here's a link for a great tutorial: http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2009/12/tutorial-working-with-glazes.html. Glazing takes practice, but it's wonderful for adding soft, natural shading and highlighting and for blending colors together.

The gold is pretty flat. You could add a lot of depth and richness to them by adding a wash of Devlan Mud, Baal Red, and Gryphone Sepia.

If you want to go really crazy with your golds, then here's a recipe I use that gives a wonderful effect:
basecoat in Dwarf Bronze
Highlight with shining gold
highlight with burnished gold
extreme highlight with Tamiya Gold Leaf
Extreme Extreme highlight (the brighest reflective points) with Mithril Silver
wash with devlan mud
wash with baal red
wash with ogryn flesh
wash with gryphonne sepia
touchup extreme highlight with Tamiya Gold Leaf
touchup extreme extreme highlight with Mithril Silver

be careful not to overdo the washes and work with thinned paint- just make sure it's not watery, or the paint will flow into areas you don't want.

Here's an example of what the gold recipe can produce: http://www.stonetowerminiatures.com/albums/commissions/spacewolves/swc1.jpg

This is pretty good job for having been painting for only three weeks. You have to add depth in your gold and Cregan gave you a good "recipe" for this. You also have to improve with your metallics and here's a good article from automaton:http://coolminiornot.com/article/aid/649
Another detail that can be important is to write things on the purity seals. If you don't actually feel good with this, it's not bad, it'll come with experience.

If you're running Windows XP, then you can get a free resizer here. It's called Image Resizer. It's easy to use- just right click on the picture you want to resize, select the Resize option, and follow the prompts. It's what I use.

Wow, thanks alot for the advice! I posted these over on Dakka Dakka and all I got was "Wow thats really good", or "I like the swords". But you guys really help out!

I actually did do the washes on the gold. I did a mix of devlan and sepia. I dont think it worked well because I dont think my paint was thin enough during basing and it obscured some of the detail. Ah well lived and learn. i also gave the fire sword one two directed washes of assruman blue, plus a final glaze! I think the nature of the light in the pic obscures the tinge of blue thats is really noticeable in daylight.

But thanks for the links and your gold reciepe! I shall use.

Cheers
