A question for anyone in the UK

In the UK, does anyone call a long sleeve t-shirt a sweatshirt? Because I recently bought some "sweatshirts" on ebay from a british seller and they turned out to be long sleeve t-shirts. I'm wondering if it was a misunderstanding on my part or if I should leave negative feedback.

The definition of sweatshirt (to me at least) seems to be anything designed to give warmth over a T shirt or other, its become pretty vague now, so i guess the real question would be are you happy with them?

Well, I like them, I'm not unhappy that I have them, but the only reason I bought them was because I needed sweatshirts.

A long sleeve t is exactly that. A sweatshirt is thicker, warmer and often fleece like inside.

Well, they're officialy listed as "long sleeve sweatshirt t-shirts" which I interpretted as meaning a sweatshirt in t-shirt style (aka no hood)

I tend not to use the word "sweatshirt" at all. It's a t-shirt, or a long-sleeved t-shirt, or a jumper (or possibly a rugby shirt). These things are not necessarily interchangeable.

i agree, although i have heard people call long sleeve tees sweat shirts. (i am working with one now) i think it's a regional thing

Gah! I'm still annoyed. Ill probably just keep them and leave some negative feedback saying the title was misleading. is this regional thing in a place called Evesham perhaps? Because thats where they're from.

Technically, if you sweat in your shirt, they are all sweatshirts.

A sweatshirt to me usually goes with a pair of jogging pants. Usually some sort of fleecy material or cotton or something really comfy.

Sweatshirt tends to be Gym wear (hence the name). Long sleeved, same sort of thickness as a hoody but without the hood.

For me that description would indicate a long sleeved t-shirt (i.e. round necked) but made from sweatshirt fabric - which is a similar stuff to they make jogging bottoms from.
