A question of........LIGHT

Or specifically, what kind of lighting are ppl using and how they have their work area set up. Worked on a mini a few nites back only to get a \'second look\' the next day and scream bloody murder. I\'m using all the light I can: overhead flourescents on, kitchenette flourescent on, side table incandescent on, and my work light with a GE Reveal bulb.....maybe I\'m just going blind?

I typically like darkness, so I don\'t have much room lighting. But I paint under two 36W 6500K power compact lamps. Being 6500K, the colour is almost identical to sunlight. I user to think this was fine until I painted a black horse recently. My blending was lovely until I saw the thing in the full sun. :( *glaring at Astonia again* Perhaps I should rig up those metal halide lamps that I have lying around, and risk the sunburn.

It\'s been said before that their is no substitute for sunlight. I\'m beginning to believe that.

I\'ve got 3 lamps.. one small 12w halogen, one with a 75w GE Reveal bulb and one swivel/magnifying lamp with a bit crappy bulb. It\'s good enough for me.

i paint in the spare bathroom. got the paint station against the sink counter, and 2 100 watt bulbs in it. a 100 watt bulb in the overhead light/fan thing. a 100 watt bulb in the bathtub area only 3 feet away, and a 100 watt bulb in a clip on reading lamp.

soo much i ran out of place for my westinghouse magnifying lamp. :( it would just cause my paint desk to colapse again. lol

(as seen here)

In addition to the normal lighting in the room (2 x 15w \"Energy Saver\" bulbs; equivalent to 2 x 60w regular incadescents), I use two small halogen table lamps (love IKEA) that are both 20w (I think they are as bright as 100w each). I\'ve got one on each side to reduce shadows, and I use them for photography as well.

I\'ve compared my stuff with those lights and with sunlight. Sunlight does bring out a little bit of color difference, but not much. Besides, they look just how I was going for under regular incadescent and flourescent lighting, which is what would be in most places that I\'d game, so I\'m happy with my lighting arrangement. I mean, really, it\'s not often that I\'ll game outside on a sunny day. Hell, I\'m in Seattle--it\'s not often that there is a sunny day! ;)

I\'ve got two 20W halogen lamps, one 40W ordinary light bulb, two 40W light bulbs in the ceiling and daylight coming in from the window in front of me (at least in the summer :( ). Here\'s some pics of my workspace:

try putting this into your browser bar.... www.actulite.com the lamps are not cheap but allowed me to start painting again and be able to see what my glazes are doing at midnight! the lamp works well on its own or even better with another light source (main room light)

Once again, apologies for posting in two different areas....Anyhow, I\'ll try posting a pic of MY work area.....Should get quite a laugh, or at least some good eyeball rolling. I have limited space here in the barracks and have to use my work desk for multiple activities! (such as typing this...):~(

Ritual, I can see the can of Testors there! I placed an order today myself, and said\" a friend of mine told me that you sell Testors.\" and he said, \"Yeah, Anders was it?\"...it was a bit weird having a real life connection to someone you\'ve only met online before :) Nice weird though :D

Cool! They remember me! :D I bet they\'ve been wondering what I wanted the Dullcoat for. I think it was obvious I wasn\'t into RC models... lol

ok, here\'s my paint area, notice the carpet which hides all dropped bits, and the mini-destroying white cat...

It\'s also where I do my graphic design so the computer, which is also my stereo. I\'m set up with my back to a wall and the rest of the room iin front of me. There is actually a couch on the other side of the table and a TV beyond that for movie watching durring painting and work. Lets me stay involved in what\'s going on in my house and not just stick my nose into a corner paint for hours.

I did hide my pile of 4 cans of testors, so no one would get too jealous. :D

Also you\'ll see on the left, my complete collection of robotech on dvd

This is a workspace thread now? Okay! Oh, and by the way, Smashed, I use two halogen lamps for my painting. As cheap and as bright as can be. Plus, if you remove the UV shield, you get a nice, healthy tan, with a bit of skin cancer thrown in.

In the middle, you can see my painting table (incredibly messy) and photo set-up, while to the right you can see the remnants of my once proud, but never finished dwarf army. They have had to suffer through several terrifying bits raids since then.

To the left you can see my dirty sock basket.

I\'ll....stick with the non-lethal lighting array thank you; Iraq round 2 is going to give me enough UV exposure, among other hazards;)
