A return to what I loved as a youngster

You can move on with your life for a while, only to rediscover them at some point...all with the same excitement and wonder that you liked in the first place.

I\'ve always liked your painting style, even the Griffin stuff. I think I disagree with you about taking them out of your gallery, but I can understand the reason to rid yourself of them.

Thanks Vike - I\'m glad that you see my reasons. The stuff that\'s left likely represents me and my painting style before I quit for a while, and as such it was pretty cathartic making the chop. I was left with \'me\' and that was something helpful for me when seeking the way forward with painting. I almost put up a WIP yesterday, only the camera memory card doesn\'t seem to want to upload without formatting and wiping itself. It\'s not mine, so I don\'t want to see hundreds of pictures disappear in a puff of smoke!

I have seen it before and I think its great. But I have not enough room to start casting, I would need a real hobby room first. But That would be the first to get myself somme Hirstarts molds. They are great!

You painted the minis on that board? Must have been a long project since there are so many of them. And how did you paint the elite units? So far I only painted the characters for my friends. Hmm, perhaps I\'ll upload some, was about the time before I joined CMON, but still I love some of those painted minis.

Nah, I only painted the little Kobolds and some weird green vampire things that looked like the Hulk. Bruce didn\'t have time to paint them all himself (very busy man he is) so he farmed them all out to people on the HA forum to paint in exchange for free moulds. There are some pics of the various stuff you get in the box here.

I really must get sorted out with some more plaster but like you say it takes up a lot of space to do and I love buliding with the blocks but I hate the actual casting of them. It\'s so boring it\'s like getting RSI of the brain lol

@ reverend: Simply buy a memory card for the camera? Would it be a WIP of the Dwarf hammerers you did? *curious*

@Undave: Free molds? Now that would be nice. Because that molds aren\'t very cheap. At least you have to use them often, otherwise it would be a waste. ANd I can imagine that make the bricks is a boring action.

Made a foto of some of my descent charas. Looking at them and the box I really get the mood to play a game again. Perhaps I\'ll ring up my friends for this weekend. :D

I still love that catgirl character, thats such a nice pose. Wish there would be a 28mm version or even a 34mm version of it *sigh*

Bet you regret selling that hefty collection of Coaties now :D

Out of interest, are you going to paint the back of these new minis? Still got that lad you (half) painted up for a CMON compo in my display cabinet. I\'ve considered finishing him off, but decided against it :)

I\'m certainly considering painting the front AND back in future, yes! And what\'s more, those Coaties would be pretty handy about now. For shame! lol

Nah, an Ork Runtherd from 1990. So far so good, but it\'s about rediscovering the old tricks. Won\'t be long!

Slow on the uptake, I am....

When I first started posting here, reverend wasn\'t painting.
Now I\'ve quit, and he\'s starting up again.

Does this mean I\'m the new reverend?

Look at the size of those shoes....

Another Game Suggestion

As a step up from Heroquest I actually recommend Advanced Heroquest way more then Descent. Descent is more like Boardgaming Diablo or some other PC game, with the spawn points and all. I didn\'t find the character advancement rules very rp like either. The problem with A-HQ is finding a copy for a reasonable price. There is an expansion for it as well.

Another one I have heard good things about but not actually tried myself, is Warhammer Quest.

Good to see someone get re-inspired. I\'ve been looking for that type of re-energization for years. I do still paint now and then, but never for long or very often. Maybe that\'s what I will do tonight... naw the 360\'s calling, or maybe I will go pick up Spore... I haven\'t played my Lord of the Rings Online Dwarf for a while....

I\'ll give a nod to Warhammer Quest. It\'s a great game and you can pretty much make it what you want. I ended up making a great big modular dungeon out of Hirst Arts blocks in order to \'bring it to life\'.
Hmm, you\'ve rekindled my old desire now...

Cake or Death?
It\'s good to know someone else went through that reverend. I painted pro for a year, and after that the thought of putting something together for fun made just the worst feeling in my stomach.

Aside from Heroquest and Descent Mordheim really got me back into painting (not to say I painted much recently, ohoh). The game is so much fun and the rules are free for download. Also you don\'t need many miniatures and in fact you\'re not limited to the GW ones. I have a beastmen horde and my champion is the little Hasslefree demonboy. And best of it you don\'t need many minis to form a warband, often only 8-12.

So if you don\'t know that game you can have a look at it reverend. Also nice background story to Warhammer Fantasy...

Awesome, I really liked your style and the half painted minis were legendary, oh yes!
