A trip down the pier

Hiya i have recently completed mini but need to do a base for him. the mini in question shall remain a secret for a while but he has a distinctly piratical flavor to him.

The base is meant to be a pier or harbour jetty that the model is standing on. I have constructed the base but the paintings going a little pearshaped. Any pointers??

I would add a little green into the water, then hit it witht the water effects personally. The jetty is looks good.

The water does need to be darker and greener. The pier looks very good, though. I think Alex means to cover it with a thin layer of water resin, to make it have \"depth\"... right? I\'ve used clear acrylic medium for this and even the small amount of translucency this gives the surface will really stand out and make it look much more real.

Yep thats pretty much what i meant. If you dont have any i have a bottle of vallejo stuff you can borrow whenever.

oh cheers alex i may have to take you up on that offer. so far ive just used PVA glue for the water. the water effects sounds much better.

I can bring it to gamesday for you, unless its for a gd proejct, in which case i can do friday or sat, but thats cutting it close.. lol

I\'d give the pier a dark brown wash. I\'ve never been on a pier that the wood wasn\'t almost black from the grime, fish guts, salt exposer, etc.
